But that's can probably be attributed to Shaq more than anything else. Shaq, due to his size and the way he plays simply draws a lot more fouls.

the pick and roll with Yao and Mcgrady has become the Rockets bread and butter. Cuban complained and complained because its a play that was becoming unstoppable. That play has gotten the Rockets this far, they've been using it all year, executing it within the rules, and its a fair, legal play. without it they don't have a chance. JVG knows this and he has to do what he has to do. The refs cannot take that play away from of us just because some creep owner doesn't like it because it is a play that works so well for the Rockets and his team is unable to stop it. Yao Ming has played 28 minutes a game in this series and is hitting 75 perecent of his shots, we need him on the court, we need him to be able to roll out and set screens with confidence for Mcgrady, we need him to be refereed as other players are refereed, thats all jvg is asking and for of us to have a chance all of this is going to have to change starting in a few hours so this may just be the 100,000 fine that turns the series around.

The result of this publicity is the officials will try to even out the fouls.

If they call too many on the Rockets, people will say the claims are true.

If they call too many on Dallas, people will say the league bowed to pressure.

If they equalize the fouls at Dallas, this could only benefit the Rockets.

I can agree or disagree with most everything in here, except this point here.
Whether you agree or not that the refs are biased, we must learn to win in SPITE of our opinions of how THEY are doing. Let's hope that JVG's plan/charade doesn't make the team lose sight of that.... not tonight. I expect coach and team are on the same page in terms of what work needs to be done, regardless.

The thing that is so silly about this is the “league against Yao” aspect. David Stern loves Yao. He loves the Chinese market. He would love a Shaq vs. Yao Finals. He doesn’t like Cuban, didn’t the league fine this guy $1,000,000. He doesn’t want to hand the Larry O’Brien trophy to some guy wearing a Dairy Queen T-Shirt with a name tag that reads “Tony”. Its flat out ridiculous.

Did you type this before or after the $100,000 fine to JVG?

The size of the fine is outrageous. Van Gundy was merely relaying factual information from another official, it's not like he went on an expletive filled rampage like other coaches around the league who have been fined much less.

i agree. avery johnson almost physically attacks the ref and has to be restrained, but only gets fined $10K. all JVG does is relay some info he heard from another ref, and its a $100K. The pro-dallas bias is out of control.... ;)

Deep Throat is back! First Deep Throat uprooted a presidency, not Deep Throat goes after the Empire of Stern.

Does it matter. Are you suggesting that is some strong arm tatic by the league. The fine may be a lot but Van Gundy is accusing the league of a very specific conspiracy. He didn't just say Yao doesn't get calls, he gave a very specific reason that questions the integrity of the refs and the league.

Van Gundy has questioned the officiating of Yao all season but not like this. He has basically contended that it is difficult to ref extremely large guys like Yao and Shaq. I totally agree with him on that point. But to claim knowledge of a specific conspiracy is a little whacky.

To me its no different than Cuban having the refs names on the Mavs website and the corresponding win-loss record for that particular ref.

That is also saying there is some kind of conspiracy against his team by certain referees.

We all know he has not been fined for putting that on his website...

    We should:

    1) compile video comparisons of inconsistent reffing against Yao, tape after tape after tape.

    2) Blow it all over the media.

    3) Over and over again.

    ;)

Yeah, i would kill to have such a video. It would be a ton of work to put together, but at least we'd have video proof of what is going on rather than just complaining on a message board.

Chinese fans need to post news of JVG's fine all over the net in Chinese. They need to make a huge deal about this. Bring some pressure to bear on the NBA.

$100k is absolutely ridiculous. It's obvious that the NBA wants this to be shut up about, because they are fining him so much money. They want to send a message so that no one else stands up for themselves when they are being screwed over.
