Didn't see it posted yet, but Clanton asked Jeff Van Gundy this morning if he would be interested in the Rockets job. Listen: http://www.sports790.com/onair/the-proper-gentlemen-of-sports-52356/jeff-van-gundy-discusses-the-kevin-14138982
Van Gundy didn't say yes or No. He said that its JB's job and he doesn't like to talk about a coaching job when it's JB's. Saying he has respect for coaches and that he's not a type of person to talk or try and put his self up for a job when it's not available .
Q: is the Rockets head coaching job something you would consider taking ? A: I'm not going to talk about taking a job that's currently being held by someone else. ZzZ
thanks to op for posting this. always a pleasure and joy to listen when jvg talks, whether bball or not. the man has a special talent. notice he repeated several times that the team "overachieved" last yr...
That's the political answer, but he didn't categorically deny it. I'm all for giving JB a shot, but I wouldn't wait too long to bring in a new coach if the team doesn't get it turned around by the end of the month.
The answer (yes) lies in the absence of an answer! There is nothing wrong etiquette wise by saying no I don't want the job, but it does sound somewhat conniving to say he does! ....... ....... .......
I always liked JVG. But, ClutchFans wanted him fired. Now, suddenly ClutchFans want him back. I really don't care who the coach is. I just want players that play hard and smart. It's all about the players in my opinion. Currently, I'm not loving this mix of players.
Yeah, because if Bickerstaff keeps it, it hopefully means the Rockets salvaged their season and turned things around.
And your response is exactly what he said at the end of his answer. "We've grown to accept that it's OK to 'talk about someone else's job', but I just don't do that." Sorry his answer bored you.
