It is human nature to tend to relax when you have helps on the way. When Tracy McGrady is in the line-up, Yao tends to relax...he should play like Tracy is not even there....only then will the Rockets be unbeatable!!!
Charvo, it is amazing how you only show up around here after a less than spectacular game by Yao. So let me guess, you think we should trade him to the Lakers right now right?
Charvo, I think everyone on the board knows where you stand regarding Yao's jumpshot. Please give the jumpshot talk a break.
Heh... 19.4 PPG, last 7 games (minus today's stinker! ) All I'm saying is that he better play better tomorrow! http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3599
He better. Let's see who's there for Hawks in the middle Kevin Willis Predrag Drobnjak Jason Collier I dont care even if the Ref actually hacks Yao out of sympathy for the Hawk's bigs, Yao better put up 30pts 15 rebounds against this front court. Kevin Willis is starting for them.
I said Yao needs to regain his jumpshot in order to become effective when his low post game isn't working. I didn't say anything about trading him. Anyone can see that aggressive, physical defenses when allowed by the refs bust Yao up. If Yao doesn't get a decent jumper, he will not progress as a player and the Rockets will get nowhere.
Personally i think what Van Gundy said was true. Yao just didnt bring him A game tonight. He really didnt need to because we just totally dominated but Yao does that from time to time. I think Van Gundy is trying to give him postive critisicm. Anyone who has been in any type of sport knows that a coach will get on your a$$. Especially if your the go to guy. Van Gundy knows how great Yao is. He is just trying to do everything he can to bring the best out of him.
Surely Yao's reounding numers reflect his lack of effort? I know there's a "knack" to rebounding that Yao doesn't have which means he'll never be a "massive" rebounder (13+/ game) - but there's also an "effort" element to it! If a player wants to they can go and get some boards - the bigger the player the easier this is to do - and since Yao is just about the biggest (not many heavier players than him in the league), he should certainly be able to "effort" himself to at least 8 rebounds on any given night!! And if he's not going to try then it's not Van Grumpy who needs to go............
Unfortunately, Yao doesn't have the stamina to run at a breakneck pace/uptempo/fastbreak. Maybe he needs to take ginseng, nature's raw guarana or another natural herb to increase his energy level. It would help possibly for an uptempo game and certainly aid him in staying in the game for longer periods of time.
Freakin big deal. Last season JVG kept criticizing Yao publicly and benched him frequently while always singing praises of Francis. Look at what happened.
Did you ever watch the game? Yao didn't get any touch early on, regardless if he could get his deep position or not, and a lot wrestling with no call. Anybody would get frustrated because of that. So he had to go out set pick, and only at that kind of time, he could get the ball. He tried a few times but painfully missed most of them. It's the dirty referee-AZ combo and our FREEZING-YAO-OUT guard made Yao so desprate and clueless on court. Now you bash him play a bad game? It's magic sticks and I-CAN"T-PASS-TO-YAO silly ward!!!! You are a guy with common Bball sense so I really doubt if you did watch the game or just talk about anything based on stat.
wow! I saw the same people praising Yao on games against Minni, and Lakers hating him today. he will play better as the season goes along. yao needs to work on his rebs thats all i am concerned with. He already helps us on offense by getting attention of the opposing team, all he needs to do is get rebs.
Yes, I watched the game. We can't have Yao causing TOs, offensive fouls, and playing passive (this was NOT athletic MEMPHIS we were playing). Also, there was no "freezing out," because he was not in the game long enough to even give him the ball (22 minutes). And even when he did get the ball he shot 3-11. The point is that JVG criticism is justified, which is that Yao can't take off nights just because McGrady is playing. By the way, maderzhao. This goes with the territory. The best players on our team will get most of the criticism. They are the leaders.
Van Gundy is right, When T-Mac plays yaó does less. so it is good that van gundy says something about it, so that yao can do more on offense that is what everybody wants. Can somebody please explain to me why everybody always complains that yao does not get the ball enough and he doesn't have enough shots per game. The thing that amazes me is that when people talk about this subject they always blame the guards. Because they say the guards do not want to pass to Yao. So they are saying that ALL the backcourts yao has played with didn't want to pass the ball to Yao. Sure it is the fault of all the back courts and Yao cannot do anything about that. Because Yao is perfect. all the guard do not like yao and they do not want to pass to Yao i think yao can be a great center, but he is not aggresive enough. he needs to work on that and he needs to work on trying to domminate the game. because he is good enough to dominate every game
