You going to the show? If so we should meet up before for diet soda's and lemon pie. Or beer. :p

Damn, Muse and SSPU's at the same spot. I am elated and feel like Jesus right now.

Yes, there will be a small contingent of clutchfans going I believe.

    I think we're in Section 111.

Thats a little bit better than the earlier "progressive rock" that didnt really progress anything.

"Indie" to me should not describe the sound. It should mean independent, that a band isnt signed on a major label. A band can sound exactly like Hoobastank but not be signed by anyone. I dont think being derivative is that big a deal, but calling yourself "indie" should make it a giveaway you're trying to be derivative.

Is it me, or are Lady Gaga and other acts in recent years like over-glorified techno artists? Lady Gaga is Madonna creatively, Cindi Lauper musically.

I'm not a big Muse fan, but they do have a crazy ass stage show on this tour which looks ridiculous. On the other hand, I saw Silversun Pickups last year and they put on a great high energy show. Have fun. :)

I am sorry to bring this thread up, but I saw no other choice. Generally speaking I always trust the musical judegement of the BBS, but MY GOD this is the worst band ever! Horchata and Baclava? This is some hippster riverdance crap. I am for once disappointed with the board.

Did you even read the thread? They have reached a level of popularity where it's much cooler to hate them than like them. A true hipster would not be a fan. Congratulations, hipster. :p

BTW, I thought they gave a good performance on SNL this weekend.

i really liked the first song, but not the second.

imo, at their best these guys are a watered down version of dirty projectors.

vampire weekend is to d.p. as coldplay is to radiohead.

their music isnt bad, but for some reason their image bothers me - it seems really contrived or like american apparel put this band together to sell clothes. yeah, yall are preppy yacht kids who drive volvos and wear penny loafers - we get it.

I like indie music, but I don't get the Vampire Weekend obsession. All their songs I've heard are decent, but nothing that blows me away. When I heard Arcade Fire or Fleet Foxes, I had to rush to get that music. Lately the only band that really caught my attention is Midlake, though for some weird reason it reminds me of Fraggle Rock music.

Anyway I'll have to check out the new VW album. On KOL, the last album didn't grab me. I loved the one before that, it had like five or six awesome songs. This one just bored me, aside from the Secret Machines ripoff "Crawl".

For the record, I think the way a lot hipsters disregard anything popular is r****ded. A lot of it isn't even good music, just different and unpopular. You can give me Chili Peppers any day over most of these crap bands.

They are no MGMT, which isn't saying much.

i saw them for the first time on hulu while watching the most recent SNL episode (I had never heard of them before). Seems like they are capitalizing off the vampire fad because their music blows.

They sucked well before the current Vampire "fad" started.

I think my favorite quote about Vampire Weekend is from Alice Copper thinking they were going to be some heavy metal rock group after hearing their name. I would love to have been there when he goes onto YouTube to check out this killer new band called Vampire Weekend and then sees four preppy kids singing about Oxford Commas.

    From Alice Cooper:

Midlake is great stuff. Their first album Trials of Van Occupanther was mindblowing. They are also local guys from Denton, Texas and half the band is actually from Houston. Their new album is somewhat of a disappointment though. They remind me alot of Fleetwood Mac.

I was somewhat familiar with Vampire Weekend before all the hype, but even back then I never really liked them. Still really don't even though I've heard that the new album is pretty good.

I don't think hipsters disregard everything that is popular. That is the stereotype that alot of folks like to have.

I'll have to check out more of their stuff, though the clip sounds a little like Travis.

As for hipsters, check out the Coachella forums, those turds are everywhere.
