Hey, did you happen to see anyone there buy milk at an alarming rate? gotta lookout for those obvious telltale signs ya know...
Never shop at WalMart unless it is absolutely positively unavoidable.....and then, if it is unavoidable, do it between the hours of midnight and 6AM. These rules especially apply to the WalMart in Meyer Park at 610 and West Bellfort. Words to live by.....
i like walmart....i went there yesterday and got my valentines day shopping done in like 10 minutes....
Why would anyone go to Wal-Mart for their Valentine's day shopping, especially for cards and chocolate. Ever hear of Walgreens or CVS? They're on every freakin' corner. In and out. Boom. You're done.
I have mixed feelings about WalMart. Their corporate ethics and some of their labor practices flat out suck, but I completely understand why people of lesser means think it's a godsend. They can save a significant amount of $$$ - one study I saw said ~1000/year for a family of 4- and that really matters to a whole lot of people. I have the means though, and I choose to spend my money elsewhere whenever possible. Was at the one in Marble Falls last fall & I saved $30 on a case of shotgun shells over what the local feedstore had. In Houston, I'd never go there - Target rocks the house - but when you're in a rural area, that's about the only game around. The rural locations are infinitely cleaner & less chaotic than the urban ones, from my experience. You nailed it with that post, TJ.
Right before Rita hit my wife and I noticed the Beaumont WalMart was begining to get bad. Check out took forever and their were people everywhere. Because of this we started going to Target. They had just remodeled it and it was very nice. The place was never crowded, and had everything we needed. Rita practically destroyed the store. The roof collapsed and destroyed about 80% of the merchandise. It took almost 2 months to get it rebuilt. Since the first of December they have been back in business and better than they were before. The WalMart, which suffered very little damage, still has not gotten back to full capabilities. They aren't open past 10 or 11 (used to be 24hrs.) and the pharmacy still isn't up and running at 100%. Probably 50-50 on whether they'll have what you need or not. Liek people earlier in the thread said, it is definitely worth spending a few extra bucks to have a pleasant shopping experience. BTW I went to target for cards and gifts for my kids, yesterday, I was in and out in less than 10 minutes.
I hate Wal-Mart with a passion. I never go there unless I'm dragged there because of the same things that have been mentioned previously in this thread. I live in The Woodlands because I can't stand living around trash and the only place I have to deal with it is at the Wal-Mart on 45 and 242. I swear that all of the crap in the neighboring communities just flock to that location. I'd much rather pay more and shop in a decent store with decent people. If that makes me elitist or whatever, so be it. [RANT]The thing that kills me is just because you do not have money doesn't mean that you have to act like an idiot. You can still be a decent person and carry yourself and teach your children some dignity. I am in no way wealthy and I come from very middle class roots. I also struggled financially quite a bit early on but that didn't mean that I was nasty or acted like a moron.[/RANT]
Amen. Amen again. The Super Wal-Mart in Manchester (my hometown) isn't quite that bad but I still avoid going there at all costs.
so you shop at Walmart at the last minute for a Valentine's gift for your g/f and you have the nerve to judge people who shop there?
Walgreens was total chaos yesterday as well. Stupid valentines day... It was busier yesterday than it was on christmas eve, christmas, or the damn hurricane days
HELL NO! 12-6 am is when they have one dollar wells and one dollar drafts. Sometime I am amazed that peopl like hanging out at walmart at 2am. It is not that fun. Not hanging out buying soda and chips. I mean chilling outside doind nothing. I wish that Walmart would explode.
I don't mind going to Wal-Mart as long as it isn't a day before a holiday, right before a hurricane is about to hit, late night Friday/Saturday when stupid teenagers think they can buy beer at the self checkout. I go to the one at Kirkwood and Westheimer. It's right next to Royal Oaks Country Club. I was there last month looking for some glue and I passed by the already set up Valentines isle and I saw something that should justify the lameness of doing your Valentine's Day shopping there: It was a Larry the Cable Guy heart shaped box of chocolates. Git R' Done! Oh, and like Faos said, gift cards, box o chocolates, etc, just go to Walgreens or CVS.
Anyone notice the Galleris is getting more thuggish. I thought Thugs liked Sharpstown. Just becuase you ruined one mall doens't mean you have to mess with the nice ones. Thugs are like the freaking Borg, they show up and leave the place ruined.
If it ISN'T cheaper at Wally Martinez, buy it at the cheaper place, bring it to Wally, and Wally will refund you the difference. Swear to God, man... Swear to God...
It's funny reading this thread and seeing people insist that the Walmart they go to is the worst. Helloooo? They're ALL bad!
Last night I saw him while I was flippin through the cable, and I tried to listen to his act for more than 20 seconds (it was impossible). When they panned the audience all I could think of was wal-mart and fat.
