Llull is too slow laterally to guard any Euroleague point guard one to one. His lateral foot speed on defense is very slow for Euroleague point guard standards. It's even quite slow for Euroleague shooting guard standards. Llull is a pure shooting guard on both offense and defense.

"You are what you can guard" - means Llull is a shooting guard.

Combing back through my notes from Eurocamp. Valanciunas measured 7'0"/245 lb with a 7-4 wingspan & 9' 3" standing reach there

physically, that's the best C prospect this year. He's not as polished as kanter but I feel like the potential is a noah with better offense

    As partially posted above...

We had Valanciunas listed at 6-10/230lbs. Pretty big difference.

One other sidenote(also from Ford): Donatas Motiejunas is in US. He's working out for Rockets, Spurs, Sixers and Knick in next few days

Llull is way too slow to defend point guards, which is one of the reasons why he has played as a shooting guard for years now.

In a weak draft, I don't see this guy slipping to 14.

Someone suggested the Rockets trade the 14 for Asik, and Valanciunas has been pegged as worst being Asik. The Rockets need someone on the phone talking with the Bulls GM telling him: get me Valanciunas, another lotto pick and then the Rockets can start agreeing to trade Lee for Valanciunas, a conditional lotto pick (Kawhi Leonard) and a shooting guard. Do the Rockets have someone they paid doing this sort of thing?

As far as video footage goes, I don't really care about the level of competition because the NBA is way more advanced than everything, even college ball. I look for things like hops, speed, mobility, is there a jumper or decent footwork, etc. A highlight video against scrubs can let us know if a dude is a stiff or fluid.

I am no scout and don't profess to know jack about these players. But I surely do trust Moreys scouting team over everyone here (that's no diss to anyone).

I've seen every Euroleague game Llull has played in his career and many of his ACB games. I've seen most of the games he has played with Spain's national team.

I'm supposed to ignore that and base my whole impression on him on ONE PLAY?

I think he would surprise you.. I don't think he will ultimately be much like Noah. He has a motor, but not like Noah and his physique will ultimately be like Zadrunas prior to the injury.

A player like that in the current NBA wouls border on super star.

I agree... he can play PG in the NBA in the right scheme in short bursts, or against combo guards.

if he was available at 14 i think it would be a pretty good pick. i wouldn't trade up to get him though

Valaciunas is a Chris Bosh type of player. A bit bigger, a bit less athletic. Worse on D and better at rebounding. But he is more in that mold of player.

I don't see any similarity to either Big Z or Noah.

I have see 20 or so of his games, and I admit I am projecting what I think his body will end up as, but I dont see the Bosh projection long term (now I can kind of see it), he has a motor and I think he will fill out.... but you have probably seen him more than I.

I'm not projecting him to be Bosh. I'm saying he is more that type of player, except the D is worse and the rebounding is better. I'm also not sure about this body filling out thing.

He's a pretty small guy build wise.
