you can do an all-inclusive to Cancun or Playa del Carmen for fairly inexpensive. The rates usually include all-you-can-drink at the resorts. Cancun if you like a partying nightlife, Playa if you want a more relaxed nightlife.
Yeah they're pretty craptacular. The 40 pound limit is terrible. Checking in a bag at the airport costs $45 so you gotta make sure to check in online in advance. The seats don't recline back. Their planes make this noise like some WD40 is needed. With this being said, they have some dirt cheap flights sometimes.
It is unreal that they charge for carry on to. Pretty much false advertisement on fare prices. In saying that I made decent off sport stock this year. But I still rather not give them money.
If I'm on a budget trip or broke, I might just take spirit. But if I'm going on vacation -- I really want to be able to relax. I personally don't mind spending a few extra bucks on Southwest/JetBlue/Virgin.
Now that you mention you're not going solo, anywhere is perfect and just depends on you and your friend's budget. With a no barr-budget where you can literally go all out, I suggest going to Vegas whereas if you want something a little more tame without all the gambling any of the other cities all the people have listed such as NYC/Miami are great spots to relax, walk around and take in the city.
Yea, that's high, but airfare to Vegas is just generally more expensive. $400+ for a big name airline is pretty standard from what I've seen. I got a good deal and booked my Labor Day Vegas trip with United for $385, while Spirit was $328.
I was in Vegas last week. Stayed at the Encore, we had a cabana around the pool, too. Enjoyed a lot more than the other hotels. Somewhat lower chav factor.
