I don't think vSpan need to necessarily apologize. He should communicate better with JVG and make sure they both on the same page. JVG has a full plate and he probably expect a professional to go back and work hard on his own craft instead of having to constantly babysit a rookie. It seems vSpan is not as mature as I thought. It's a maturation process, we'll have to see. He needs to get adjusted to a different culture, different coach, team and to the high level of NBA, he needs to just shut up and work his butt off. He already have a lot to learn and lots to work on, his time will come.
if nothing else, put all this behind us and just apologize. not necessarily cause he did anything wrong wrong, but cause he aired his opinion publicly. then everyone will get over it and vspan can start kicking some ass. c'mon billy. grow up. earn your PT!
Vspan did nothing wrong so he has nothing to apologize for, if anything JVG should be the one apologizing to him.
I voted NO, I like a player that wants to play and is confident enough to say he should. Yes, he has to prove it, but, really, he hasn't been given much of a chance. It is not like we have Steve Nash at the PG position. VSpan has an attitude, you can see it on the court. I think that is what many of us like about him. Now he has to "put up or shut up." Just give the kid a chance.
Because, how can anyone have a bad practice? You could miss 100 shots in a row but if you're working on a particular form, that's still a good practice. The only way anyone could have a "bad" practice is if he's loafing it and is simply not trying. You know JVG will always give "effort" guys PT versus more talented but not as hard working (as long talent level isn't that wide). I stand by my original statement, the only way anyone could have a bad practice is if they loaf it and don't take it seriously.
An apology might help him with the team more so than the coach, and if he really wants to show what he can do he has to pay his dues, just like in any profession where you work with a small group of people who are really focused on a common goal in line with the coach's philosophy. I think he needed to vent and now that it's out and he's certainly heard the reaction he has to show everyone that it came from a hard-working individual and not a whiner who doesn't expend all his effort, so I would not be surprised to see him really improve and eventually earn some court time. A healthy ego is OK but if he looks around the league at others who are successful because they've been coached to play differently or better then that would be the best thing for him. Kobe's showing leadership and deferring to teammates more, Yao has become more of a low-post threat, and it took strong coaches to mold them, yet their ego and pride remains strong and they work their butts off. Why should he be any different?
http://sport24.gr/html/ent/801/ent.160801.asp " If he wants to leave..." Cold and hot. Jef van Gundy's hot/cold treatment towards Vasilis Spanoulis continues. the rockets coach gives a different story about his discussion with Vspan but also open a door for his exit if that is what Billy wants of course. I found the way he interpreted my comments very interesting. I never told him to become a spot up shooter. I just told him to improve his game but he forgot to mention that to the Greek Media, said Gundy who in the past has praised Spanoulis for his defense and criticized him abouts TOs. The Rockets head coach learned that vspan is thinking about returning to Greece. what was his reaction? I understand that he is feeling home sick. If he wants to leave the team ought to let him. You only have one life and one carer. If he feels more comfortable in Europe he can go.In this league (NBA) you must be mentally strong. If you are not willing to fight you should leave. Now this all depends on Billy i dont know how he truly feels.
Luffy1, you continue to suck at posting, this I know without being able to even read your post. In other news General Franco remains interred. Anyway, the latest in the "saga" http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/4497719.html
We just freaking beat San Antonio in San Antonio for the 2nd straight time after losing there for a decade, once without Mac, once without Yao, and Van Gundy has to answer questions about Spanoulis? That's the level of ridiculousness.
To be a rim in the NBA, you have to be mentally & physically tough. Maybe the Euro rims are softer. DD
Don't know if they softer or not, but I know they tend to break and fall on the floor the second you touch them.
1. He vented overseas from what I have seen [I don't think i saw it in the chronicle until they got it from here] 2. I beleive a person should say what they feel Evidently he don't feel the lines of communications were open those lines have to run both ways Rocket RIver
