OMR - I don't think so. rimbaud covered it pretty well. I think in time, VSpan will be an excellent man defender (and maybe even team defender?). Right now, he tries to play inside the other's defenders shorts, and ends overcommitting and fouling too much. would like to see some VSpan too, but honestly, JVG sees him plenty in practice - you of all people would love to hammer Van Gundy for sacrificing Rafer's superior offense (yikes) for Spanoulis' "excellent" defense. He's just not well adjusted to NBA-style defense, which isn't all that surprising in his first year. I can't think of a foreigner who came in and was a star defender from the beginning. At some point, Spanoulis will need game experience to get better, but I think there's still plenty he needs to learn just in practice. Van Gundy has complemented Spanoulis for his good performances, but he had some huge backwards steps that have allowed JL3 to move ahead of him. And with a healthy TMac, I'm perfectly fine using TMac as the point forward and letting Head take the backup PG minutes.
Clyde Drexler basically was just gushing over V-Span and how good of a passer he is....he also said that V-Span is better than a lot of players getting playing time right now....but that he is a little down because he is out of the rotation. So.....Clyde and DaDakota are in the know....the rest of you...well......not so much. DD
The fact Clyde says something is supposed to help your case? I couldn't care less what he says, whether he supports or agrees with an opinion. Clyde is a zero to me and I do everything I can to tune him out.
Well, Clyde does know a little itsy bit about B-Ball...... Now I just see the boxscore and they gave V-Span a turnover when Hayes is the one that stepped out of bounds LONG after the pass..... What a joke. DD
see this is whats been happening on this board people are so ridiculous lately, everybody trying to be different everybody trying to prove a point it's freaking getting boring...I will leave it at that, no pun intended
The fact that you say something is supposed to help your case? I couldn't care less what you say, whether you support or disagree with an opinion about Vspan. You are a zero to me consider yourself tuned out. Oh by the way Clyde is definitely smarter than you even without the sarcasm. SO what you are saying is you are even stupider than him.
No offense, but I found that sentence very funny. When calling someone dumb or stupid, try to make sure that you use an actual word. Stupider.....ROFLOL......No offense OMR...you know I love ya, but in your haste to type...well you put up a Bunkerism !! DD
Yeah that was a good pass that chucky wasn't ready for. All Vspan seems to do is pass these days. He looks a little beaten. Good job Jeffy you win. Now send him to to NBDL, please. Stupider is as Stupider does.
LOL! You are a royal trip and must be skipping your medication again. I've never seen anyone here get so inflamed over a player. It's also strange that you reply to someone who is "tuned out". But you are definitely a strange one. Remember, name-calling only works on the playground.
The first part was sarcasm hence the rolly eyes. The second part was about the fact that Clyde very probably knows more about basketball than you.
They didn't show a replay, but it looked to me like one of the guys got a finger on it before it got to Chuck. Chuck still should have gotten it, but I'm not sure the pass was entirely clean. His assist though on the later play was a beauty.... And his defense was the same as I said before. One play in particular, Josh Childress had been shut down all night forcing jumpers, VSpan gambles and Childress went right by him to the bucket for an And 1.
Of course he knows more about basketball than I know, but using that argument: JVG knows more about basketball than Clyde. Clyde's stint at UH and his Rockets commentary have severely diminished my opinion of him. However you look at it, V-Span and Novak should have gotten more playing time in the 4th quarter. I can't imagine JVG's rationale.
Yes, he did gamble on that play but I have to believe that playing time will correct a lot of these minor problems. Tony Parker had them, Manu Ginobli had them, but they got the chance to work it out on the floor. Also, when you play with better players, especially a PG like V-Span your game is elevated considerably..... It is the difference in passing to wide open Luther head....versus wide open Keith Bogans....... DD
Some people look for fault anywhere. That was the only play and Josh blew past Head too but Mutombo was there. Nobody can stop Josh all the time. He is very quick but let's see head on him all the time and forget about Alston. It is easy to prove a case if you only use isolated instances. But what I saw was an overall very good defensive effort at keeping Josh at bay who they were trying to go out. Try to see the whole picture with your standards Battier sucks on defense too. Also the pass was in Hayes hands on the money. He stepped out of bounds. That is Hayes TO and should have been Vspan. Keep it real.
I don't want to see VSpan deported but I would like to see him get better at shooting before getting on the court. Right now it seems like half his 3pt attempts are airballs and he looks scared to shoot.
All this talk about VSpan's 3 point shooting is garbage. Tony Parker can't shoot the 3 either. VSpan needs to run the PnR at the top of the key and either thread the pass through, take it to the rack or take the little 16-17 footer at the top of the key. He is very good at that shot. He is not a stand around spot up shooting point guard. He is a playmaker.
Ding Ding DING !!! We have a winner....... The problem is that Popovich is 10 times the coach that JVG is.........Pop will yell at all his players....JVG will NEVER yell at Tmac....ever...double standard. DD
