I think the winky guy means sarcasm.....and V-Span will be better than Magette for the simple fact that he can stay healthy. DD
We all know what is the life for a rookie in JVG's team, though Head is an except since we didn't have anyone else availabe last season. JVG's "win now" attitude won't help the team to succeed in the playoffs, which needs more depth in the bench, let along the future seasons. It is really a pain to see How Phil Jackson has turned the crubs in Lakers into decent players with right attitudes and energy. I am a semi-JVG hater right now, but I don't know whether any other coach available could do a better job.
Tell you what, if the Maggette for Spanoulis rumor is true and the trade doesn't happen, then that should tell us what CD and Morey think of VSpan.
Where have their been Maggette for Spanoulis rumors!?!? EDIT: ah, earlier in this thread. Rumors from the "Greek media." Not holding my breath. Plus, any deal we did for Maggette for Spanoulis would have to include another player, Sura's expiring?
I give you credit for this one, I was wrong he did not have 10 assists in a preseason game, it was only 8. Against Milwaukee Not too bad...in only 22 minutes of action....and once his teamates got used to his passing it would go up from there...... DD
i think this thread is not about how good vspan is/will be, is about how bad alston is. very few ppl propose to give howard's minutes to novak, why? because howard CAN STILL PRODUCE. it's the same about the whole team, when the starters cannot keep up with the opponents, try your bench!
Actually the report was Spanoulis & Battier for Maggette. They said it came from an American newspaper, can't remember which now. It seems kinda improbable though that the Rockets would trade 2 players they just got. An argument that can be made about Spanoulis is that he needs lots of playing time in order to flourish. Just look at his stats in the 2005 Euro Championship compared to those of the WC. http://www.fibaeurope.com/eurobaske...9le2.season_2005.roundID_3769.teamID_291.html http://www.fiba.com/pages/eng/fe/06...291&eventID=3507&langID=1&playerNumber=&zone= As for assists, he was never the main passer in any team he played, he was always the "executioner" of the plays. Papaloukas and Diamantidis (I'm surprised there's no interest from the NBA for him because he's one of the best PGs in the world and certainly the best in Europe, Parker included) were always the brains of the team. Spanoulis was the hands, so to speak.
LOL i just noticed V-span avg only 1.3 assist per game in the WC. Along with his 3assist avg in the Euroleague any one else still think he is a true point guard and not a combo scoring gaurd?
For those pining for Spanoulis, please listen to someone who I'd assume has seen him a lot more than the rest of us. If Spanoulis has never been the true point guard on any team he has played, you expect him to get minutes at point guard in a system he's never played, in a league which he's new to, and with teammates he's never played with? Get real. Perhaps Van Gundy knows more about the past roles Span is familiar with than our resident experts.
