Wow, total home DVR is excellent! Now I can watch recorded shows from my bedroom if I want to. Even before this, U-verse DVR is far far far superior to Comcast's. The DVR is faster. Channels switch faster. Seeking is much smoother. And best of all, you have far, far more recording space available, which means you won't be scrambling to delete shows every week. In fact, you won't ever need to at all, because it can automatically delete the oldest shows when it needs space, something that Comcast's DVR cannot. When it comes to DVR service, it's not even close.
That Total Home DVR is not available in KATY (SwoLy's pad) just yet. I've been looking at my daughters' TV and the non-HD TV Receiver's menus, and no "Recordings" menu.
HOLY *****!!!!!!!! I GOT A CALL FROM the AT&T 1-800 guy saying AT&T U-Verse TOTAL HOME DVR feature is on my TV!!! I'm as giddy as a little girl!!! ^ that's not any different from EVERY DAY
Thanks for bringing this thread back and reminding me. I took today off from work and had some time on my hands. Reading your post made me call AT&T and order the service. I got the exact package you did but they can't install TV/Internet until Oct 18th (Oct 10th if I didn't request a weekend). We'll see. The major reservation (buyers remorse) I'm having right now is Uverse does not have NBA TV. That bugs me a lot! There is a 1/10 chance I change my mind.
Just got it installed today. Bye bye Comcast! So far so good, though I don't seem to have WHDVR yet, I'll restart later to see what happens. The quality for non HD channels is far superior to Comcast and I watched Seinfeld in HD on TBS on my Comcast DVR yesterday and my Uverse DVR today and would be hard pressed to tell the difference (perhaps Comcast was a tiny bit better, perhaps). Really happy thus far. I already had ATT DSL and this new gateway is definitely faster than the old one.
Today after I finally got my power back I called Comcast to request an extension until next Friday on my bill. I explained to the rep that I had been buying 40 dollars worth of gas a day for the past two weeks and that I was short on income. I also explained I needed my internet to make the money that they needed. Their response was pretty much, oh well **** happens and denied the extension. That leaves us with no phone and no internet. Can you just get phone and internet with U-Verse? If so I'm definitely making the switch. Comcast blizzows!
I did the Ctrl+Alt+Del (restart thing ) for all my receivers, and I didn't get the THDVR. I guess I will try tomorrow. For those of you with Fantasy Football players, you can set up your teams by using your AT&T/Yahoo! Account and check their stats on the SPORTS INTERACTIVE channel (the blue button on the remote). I can't, since we signed up under my wife's Yahoo! account, and now I regret it. I am hoping I can change it to mine soon. Again, if anyone would like to get some MOOLAH from referring U-Verse or putting me down as your referral, send me an email through the board.
why isnt uverse available in all of houston does anyone know? I live in the east end about 2 miles from UH real close to downtown, right in the middle of the city, does it have to do with their contract with dish network
wreck, it is probably a combination of phone lines, fiber optic, and older technology in older neighborhoods. Most of the newest neighborhoods have it. Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U-verse for a little more info. It has NOTHING to do with Dished Network or DiwreckTV (hey, I made a funny about your username!). U-Verse is DSL/CABLE via the phone lines, then it goes coaxial to your TV. It has nothing to do with DISHes.
Ouch, I overlooked the lack of NBA TV. Maybe they can add it before too long into the NBA season...time to start e-mailing them. What promotion are you getting? The website made it sound like you only got the $250 in rebates for online orders (something like $100 for phone orders).
I've had enough of Comcast, I usually had good things to say about them but not anymore. **** Cockcast I got that OPLINK.NET http://www.oplink.net/
$39.99/mo for U200 (the first 12 months). Increases by $20.00/mo afterwards $10.00/mo extra for HD $35.00/mo Elite High Speed Internet (6Mbps) $84.99/mo total $30.00/mo for standard phone service including unlimited local, long distance and free caller-id, 3-way calling, etc, etc. Promotional stuff going on right now $200.00 rebate for U200 and internet $50.00 for standard phone service 1st month of TV is free (I'm going to have U400 the first month and switch back to U200 at before the month ends) No installation charge The guy didn't know if they would offer NBALP.
I switched a week ago and could not be happier. Customer service has been great and the guy actually showed up when he was supposed to (stood up twice by Comcast in the past) The TV pic is about the same. Comcast HD is a tiny bit better, but not really noticable IMO. Standard TV looks much better and I have a lot more channels than Comcast for about $15 cheaper
Very cool. I ended up ordering Uverse yesterday afternoon...installation is in early October. When I called them they said they still didn't have the total home dvr package in houston. I quoted from this message board and other articles on the web saying that it was just turned on in Houston...and he kept saying, "no, i'm sorry..it's not." He checked with a manager and said, "No...my manager says it's still not. But it will be soon." Based on all that, I went ahead and ordered it anyway. Will be interesting to see how quickly it takes for them to send me the message with the download. Hoping that the new MLBTV will be picked up by Uverse when they get rolling in 2009.
It seems like certain neighborhoods in Houston have it but they have not rolled it out to the entire area yet. One date I saw listed on Uverse Users was 9/29 which would be Monday. We'll see.
