I hear you but it could end up working out for Utah if Korver plays decent. I doubt it, but ya never know.
i think its a win-win. now philly is really gonna have money in the off season if they can trade andre miller. Morey needs to make this **** happen
I'm not trying to undersell the importance of good shooting but i'm still a bit skeptical of this move. Between Kirilenko, Brewer, Harpring, Miles and Morris Almond they already have quite the logjam at the 2/3. Giricek was the odd man out so who's minutes does Korver take? The Jazz are pretty mediocre so some change could do them well but Brewer has been solid. Kirilenko has to get heavy minutes. Harpring is a tough player that creates a ton of mismatches so you have to have him out there. Miles is underrated and is a very good shooter. Same with Almond.
I understand that but if things between Sloan and him were really that bad the Jazz should have just cut him.
You are absolutely correct. Maybe the Jazz will make another trade and this was all about ditching Giricek ASAP just to get rid of him.
you don't just cut a player who's making 4 million a year so that he can go home and get paid. Even if his contract is expiring.
the only time i care about other teams is when the rockets are actually doing good, right now it doesnt matter who is ahead of us or what they do. anyway the reason why ashton cusher is worth a one rounder is because hes a mediocre movie star <img src="http://www.nba.com/media/warriors/kutcher_korver_fitz.jpg">
I would have if the best that I could get for him and a first rounder was Kyle Korver. I'm sure the original proposal was Korver for Giricek straight up. Straight up, I would have done that just to get something of value for Giricek but no way in hell do I include that first round pick. At that point I explore other options or just cut him. That's just me though.
True but I doubt the Jazz are going to have a good pick. Somewhere in the 18-22th pick. then again if they keep on losing that might go lower. But if im the owner im not letting him go home with 4 million dollars in his pocket so he can return to his homeland and bang euro chicks like crazy
Damn, you beat me to it. Utah trade for a white player? No freaking way. How many more games do we play with Utah this season? I bet in one of those games, he goes for 30 points.
Well, it's not like Sloan gets along better with white guys with no exception. After all, he made Kirilenko cry and could not get along with Giricek. Sloan is just an old school tough guy with little patience for nonsense.
The Jazz missing out on a first round pick is a victory for the Rockets. Knowing their draft history however would suggest that they will find another gem in the 2nd round though.
What makes a bad contract? On this BBS it seems like any player isn't a star and has a contract that isn't for the min or under 2 years is considered a bad contract. Utah have been in a slump of sorts. Korver's 3P shooting will help them if he can connect consistently. I'm more worried if this makes them a harder matchup for the Rockets.
I really like this trade for the Sixers. It proves that they want to field a winning team, not just an entertaining one. An expiring contract and a far away first rounder from a good team isn't a whole lot when you're trading away the face of the franchise (Iggy might be a little more popular nationwide, but Korver is definitely 1b in terms of fanfare at the games), but it was a move you needed to make. I was a huge fan of the Ed Stefanski hiring; getting a local guy (Penn '76), and getting a guy with a good track record with the Nets. I'm curious to see how Korver is going to fit in with Utah. In Philly, he really had the green light to shoot whenever he touched the ball; that's not going to happen with the Jazz. Still, he's a smart player, under a long, if not necessarily bad contract. This could really help the Jazz, as long as Korver develops that somewhat dirty, tough, physical personality that you need to play in Utah.
