Exactly...Great post. It's tiring seeing jazzhole this and j*zz that all over the place. I don't give a s*** about them, I only care about the Rockets being better. If a trade can make this team better then so be it. Hell I'm surprised any team would offer more then a bag of peanuts for McGrady. T-mac will never command the type of value that some people on here see him as. You can only really get crap for crap.
Further proof that the Jazz are deep doo-doo with regard to the luxury tax. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/705314844/Utah-Jazz-No-luxury-tax-relief-if-Harpring-retires.html Matt Harpring may be retiring, but the Jazz will still need to eat his $6.5M salary next season. Depending on how far into luxury tax territory they go, that contract could cost the Jazz as much as $13M. The blurb about OKC and Millsap indicates that Utah may need to scramble to shed salary come July 8 before the 7-day offer sheet match deadline passes. THIS is the definition of "opportunity". Let's hope Les and Daryl can take advantage of it.
As you laid out, the question is what the Rockets are getting for giving up the 2010 free agency dream (and paying a bunch of money)? I really don't mind Kirilenko, and would rather enjoy a lineup that includes Kirilenko, Battier and Ariza together, but man, we are talking about Les paying a TON of extra money in the trade scenarios you laid out, and giving up andy dream of getting, say, a Chris Bosh through free agency. Is the NYK draft pick worth all that?
You may only care about the Rockets getting better, but I care about the Rockets getting better AND having players that I can cheer for with a clear conscious. I would not route for either AK47 or Okur. I despise them.
Would adding our pick, making it Okur+Kirilenko+NY pick for McGrady+Our pick make it more palatable to Utah? With Okur and Kirilenko we'd definitely finish ahead of NY. Would you be interested in that type of trade for Houston?
AK, shane, ariza, all sounds really redundant. they all do everything alright, nothing really well. not sure if that's gonna get it done. plus AK makes waaay too much.
The main piece isn't AK, it's about getting NY's unprotected pick. And AK can play PF, Okur plays C. AK also allows Scola to log more minutes at C.
just trade with no doubt.AK was the greatest shot blocker in the alliance. i think he just could not Jazz's playing system. i still belive he is the best forward in the alliance now,now t-mac is hard to fit the rocket's system, then rocket should trade him.it is good to both t-mac and rocket. and ak will help rocket become the strongest defencer !!! at least...ak seems more energy than t-mac... sorry for the bad english.
Houston Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: +0.3 ppg, -0.7 rpg, and -2.2 apg. Incoming Players Mehmet Okur Andrei Kirilenko Outgoing Players Luis Scola Tracy McGrady Okur / Yoa Landry / Hayes Korilinko / Ariza Battier Brooks / Lowry or even better Change in Team Outlook: +11.7 ppg, +5.3 rpg, and -1.4 apg. Incoming Players Kyle Korver Mehmet Okur Andrei Kirilenko Outgoing Players Shane Battier Brian Cook Tracy McGrady Okur / Yoa Scola / Landry / Hayes Korilinko / Ariza / Korver Taylor / White / Brooks / Lowry DO IT!!!
I might be able to handle Okur, although it would be a pain. Kirilenko? Never. The guy represents every negative thing imported from Euro basketball. Those who might compare his über flopping with what Scola does from time to time need to check into a clinic and get help. There is no comparison.
The jazz fans want Tmac cause they remember how well he played against them in the playoffs. Took them to two game 7s with literally no help. Too bad Houston fans can't see it.
