Sloan works well with: 1. Veterans 2. Hard Workers or 3. Both 1 and 2. So basically he won't have much to work with outside of Kirilenko and Harpring...and if he can get this team to the playoffs..i'll consider him a great coach. otherwise, drawing up pick and roll diagrams wasn't really hard now is it?
with them out of the picture i think the playoffs will look like this: 1.lakers 2.spurs 3.mavs 4.kings 5.wolves 6.blazers 7.suns 8. ????? one spot left and it will be either us, the grizz, or the sonics. if we trade rice to match the offer to posey we have the edge.
it'll be nice to see Kirilenko have a showcasing season for future free agency. I hate the Jazz, but I just can't bring myself to hate Kirilenko.
Fine, I overreacted. I just like Kirilenko. He's not flashy, and he's not going to dominate a game, but he plays hard, hustles, plays D, makes efficient use of his shots...how can you not like a player like that? Like dn1282 said:
That's the only thing that would suck about next season. However, it would rule if it was as weak as the KMart draft. ooooo yeah.
It is true that a lot of the players that left Utah are now dull, but that is only b/c the players the Jazz have on their team are not scorers. They do not have the explosive players on the team, but they had people willing to play defense and accept their roles. I will give Sloan a lot of credit in being able to have his players play their roles on the team. Players like Shandon Anderson, Eisley, and Russell were not looking to stay around with Utah. It could be b/c of not having a lot of things to do in Utah. But I heard Chris Webber use that excuse when he was not wanting to report to the Sac Kings. I think those guys were tired of not getting the offensive opportunites to shine and needed to go elsewhere. Heck, the same can be said for James Posey and the Rockets. However, these "good players" drafted/developed by the Jazz did not have the overall skills to imediately shine on other teams. Btw, players like: Dell Curry, Troy Hudson, Donyell Marshall, and Aaron Williams have all had pretty good seasons after leaving Utah.
