Okay, tell me a better coach than Stoops that the Longhorns can hire, and I'll agree. Other than that, all your sarcasm is moot because for two of his seasons that has been his problem. Stoops is the best coach in College Football, and incidently, the same thing happened to Fred going up against Switzer. As with Switzer, good things come to an end, only the Longhorns had McWilliams and no Akers anymore when the door opened. Don't let history repeat itself.
Steve Spurrier is the guy. He is a proven winner on the college level. He will bring an attitude to the program which it has been lacking.
Glad that you noticed that too. I would expect Texas to hammer Washington, but Washington State should give them a better game.
Another coach is Jeff Tedford of California, but he doesn't have background. Stoops didn't have one either so that might not be a bad thing.
Another Mack Brown Special. Team with more talent loses to the team that is more prepared and better coached. It's a good thing we pay Greg Davis so much, I'd hate to see how long it would take to adjust to a simple blitz if he wasn't one of the highest paid coordinators in the country. . . This program isn't headed in the right direction, it isn't heading anywhere - except to the Holiday Bowl year after year after year. . .
It would be unbelievable if it weren't so, um, believable. No excuse at all for not doing something, anything to stop repeated basic blitzes. I just don't understand how these games happen. The program is certainly better under Mack than it was under Mackovic but there is clearly something missing before we are a great team.
Is there anything more to be said about the tagteam of Brown and Davis that hasn't been rehashed for the past few seasons? Are the pink slips ready yet?
don't forget Reese in that group - our braindead triumverate of coaching habitually gets our team to underperform. None of them should be spared from the ax. Hell, just go down the entire list of coaches, save one. We have only one coach - McWhorter - who could land a job on OU's staff. We have only one coach who might even be considered for a head coaching job someday - Duane Akina, and even then his tenure at Texas hasn't been too good for his rep. The entire staff is a reflection of the guy in charge, and he's too busy clapping like a crazed seal at anything that moves to notice something's wrong . . .
