Ya, I think UT is going to be a very underrated team since VY won't be there. He was obviously the glue of this team but if you look at the personnel returning on the defensive and offensive side of the ball, you have a very dangerous team. Offense: QB: Snead or McCoy or Harris? RB: Charles/S. Young/RT/Melton WR: Sweed/Pittman/Cosby/RT/Shipley? (Haha, we know he'll never be healthy ) Defense: LB: Killabrew/Bobino/Kelson/Kindle? DE: Robison/Crowder/Orakpo/Jones? DB: M. Griffin/A. Ross/T. Brown/Marcus Griffin I think the defense is going to play a bigger role than our offense next season. With all these guys returning under another year under Chizik, I'll look for them to be big.
UT has had a good three years. But I guess y'all have forgotten that UT was hardly a powerhouse team in the 90's. We'll see how your feelings are on this issue next season. It'll be a big surprise if UT finishes in the top 20.
You're right, we were hardly a powerhouse team in the 90's, but that was like 16 years ago, before Mack, before Ricky, before Cedric, before VY. That's like saying to the Spurs, ya'll must have forgotten that ya'll sucked in the 80s. That was ancient history and has NOTHING to do with right now. Always look for a Tech fan to bring up stuff 10 years old to make himself feel a little better. I'm not a betting guy, but I think it's would be a very very safe bet that we finish the year a top 10 team.
Mack Brown has never won less than 9 games in a season at Texas, dating back to his first year, 1998.
I was actually referring to the Tech-UT games. We won as many as we lost in the 90's. Granted, since Brown, we only beat y'all 3 years ago.
Lubbock is a difficult place to play. I think Mack is 2-2 there with losses in '98 and '02. Leach and Tech are starting to really pull away from A&M and recruiting reflects that.
"Missing kids, huh? Looks like Springfield has a discipline problem, maybe that's why we beat yall in football nearly half the time."
The 90's? There has been a lot of football played since then. I have a few vague recollections of UT football vs TT in the 90's. Best Memory There was the option play TT ran out of the field goal formation in the first half of the 1995 game...Tony Brackens destroyed the kicker after the pitch was caught. No more kicker for the game. It sucks that the kicker got injured. Worst Memory I remember a game where Taje Allen kept getting thrown around by a much bigger TT receiver. It was like watching a big brother toying with a little brother in a backyard game. That was a hard game to watch.
