Where? I see some posts from you in this thread whining about UT, and I see some dumb remarks about Utah beating UT, but I don't see any predictions that Utah would jump Texas in the AP poll. Wait, was this one of those predictions that you knew all along and were totally sure of, but conveniently didn't share until after it happened? Here are a couple of links you can use to amuse yourself: Coaches poll. ROFLFLROL, Texas is ranked ahead of Utah!!!! Bowl projections. HAHAARRRRR, Rice isn't going to a bowl this year.
Indeed, this was an internal prediction I had made. I don't always share with this board all of the advanced football thinking I develop on my own. At times I have even felt that my analysis was unwanted around here! It was a prediction that was related to my Baqui-jest when I claimed that "Utah would beat UT like a rented mule." Apparently the AP agrees with me.
Who are some potential opponents for UT in the Holiday Bowl? Isn't it usually someone from the PAC-10? With Cal and USC already taken, who does that leave? EDIT: Actually Arizona State and UT would be a good game. Better than Washington State from last year at least.
I guarantee that Texas will not play in the Holiday Bowl this year, Mack said earlier this season that it was a mistake to accept the invitation last year. They'll likely play in the Cotton Bowl against an SEC team, probably LSU, Tennessee or Georgia.
If ABC and the Fiesta Bowl like the BCS system (i.e. instead of playoffs) then this game will be helpful in the long run by throwing non-BCS conferences a bone. IMO Utah can give the big boys a game.
Hopefully Texas can sellout its allotment. I heard tickets for the 03 Cotton and 03 Holiday weren't hot items. btw, I expect all you guys supporting Mack to be in Dallas on January 1. Come on show him some love
You call Boston College one of the big guys? I said they're going to love it because, the Fiesta Bowl won't sale out and nobody is going to watch it on TV.
Technically they're "big boys" cause they're from a BCS conference no matter how lame the Big East is. Public tickets are probably already sold out for all BCS games. Utah will sell out its allotment, BC won't. I will agree it's not an attractive matchup.
Oh, please. This is silly. To believe this, you'd pretty much have say that you view it as a possibility that Utah is one of the top 2 (or at least, three) teams in the nation. I don't think anyone with even a modicum of objectivity is going to go this far. Otherwise, the OU loss is absolutely meaningless when comparing Texas to Utah. UT is worse than OU. Wow. That means they're properly ranked beneath #2 (or 3, if you buy Auburn). The reason I pretty much discount Utah versus Texas lies in the offensive line. Just don't see any way that Utah could compete in the trenches. And if you can't do that, you'll only win via a fluke.
A fluke? Huh. You mean like Matt Jones fumbling the ball in the final minutes when Arkansas was within a chip-shot field goal of beating UT? Yes, Arkansas. The team with a losing record. You mean a fluke like that? Huh. Thanks.
It was either a BC team that's won their last 4 bowl games against AZ St, Georgia, Colorado St. and Toledo. Or a West Virginia team who is 1-10 in the their last bowl game appearances. And as long as the Big East has an autobid, this is your poison.
FORCED fumble with over two minutes left in the game. I know Rice isn't used to being within striking distance of a win with two minutes, but it's not common practice to concede a win with that much time left in the game. This Arkansas argument is ridiculous. If you haven't noticed or if you are too ****ing dense to recognize it, the #1 team in the country won by a mere field goal against a Stanford team that is no better(And probably slightly worse) than Arkansas.
Not sure if you noticed or not, but the absolute gift that your team received by the pass interference call was the reason your team did not lose on Saturday. The Benson fumble no-call was also particularly important. Kansas' coach had just reason to be upset. All this squawking about how great UT is this year is really humorous in my opinion. BCS games are meant for teams that can compete for a national championship. If your team can't even score on a fellow Big XII south division foe, maybe you shouldn't be making noise about not being able to play in a BCS game
Kansas - 23 yards in penalties Texas - 100+ yards in penalties. Regardless, scoreboard. b**** as much as you want, but Texas won the game. Who squawked about that? And are BCS games meant for MNC-contenders? Isn't one of BC, WVU, or Pitt going to play in one of them? Isn't Utah probably going to play in one? Arguing with you is pointless. First, because you have no legitimate favorite college football team. Bringing Rice into the argument is like, well, bringing Rice into a college football conversation. Pointless. Second, you are not objective in the least. This year, we happened to be shut out by OU. So, the claim is that our offense blows. If we had lost in a shootout, say 42-35 or something, then the claim would be that the defense blows and we can't win close ballgames. So we got shut out, so the hell what? We lost, and that's the point. Losing 50-38 wouldn't have been any more positive/negative.
Uh, no. The BCS tries to put the top eight teams in the country in its bowl games. The coaches think Texas is a Top 5 team. The writers think they are a number 6 team. So you and your buddy can tell us with your brilliant unbiased analysis how much they don’t deserve to be a BCS, the fact is the Coaches, Writers, and the Computers think otherwise.
you're like a small child that wanders into a conversation..... completely and utterly pointless trying to argue with you. you will find somethin to nitpick about, regardless of what Texas does. YOU HATE UT. WE KNOW IT. NOW SHUT UP. edit: actually, keep arguing; it kinda keeps me entertained.
