Rice played very well. The score at the end got away a little bit, but I came away very optimistic about Rice's future. I also left thinking that UT-Austin is not a top 5 program.
texxx is a documented troll, but his view on this is very valid. Texas and Florida have been notorious for recruiting low life no-good thugs. They both obviously have a great football program, but they really need to clean up their act.
Who cares as long as they win. Bigtexxx's hero W has a dwi record, and he was president of the united states.
The difference is these kids are on full scholarship to a nationally-respected academic institution based on athletic prowess, and they are expected to abide by strict guidelines and regulations, including the prohibition of recreational drug use, as members of the university football squad.
Except that, as football players, they are the most visible aspects of most any university. This issue cannot and shouldn't be ignored like "well every college kid does it" because, yes, these aren't normal college kids. Take away their athletic prowess and they aren't college kids. If these kids are going to be permitted into a school without the academic requirements of "traditional" academic students, they should be held to a higher standard. A poor black college kid on full-athletic scholarship is just as, if not more privileged in the college bubble as a white suburban kid on partial or full-academic scholarship.
'nuff said right there. WOW that's embarrassing for UT-Austin....and it doesn't even include the latest round of criminal acts from this year.
