Right, which allowed them to change the call before the next play was run. It was ultimately the right call, but the way they arrived at it was very Patty Mahomes paid referees-esce. LSU fans would never dare throw perfectly good bottles of alcohol on the field.
Really not sure what to make of it. This loss wasn’t on him but he’s gonna have to play a $hit ton better if we want to make a serious run this season.
Well, at least now I can wear a new shirt. I was afraid to change my game day shirt after the Michigan game.
I think everyone can agree that the O-line was the weakest link this game. They got absolutely demolished. Not to completely take the blame off Ewers, he played bad but the O-line gave him no protection. Manning could scramble and extend plays, but Sark didn't trust his inexperience. Texas's first big matchup and they got embarrassed. They'll still likely make it to the SEC championship and the 12-team playoff, but they gotta show better than tonight.
Some of the worst quarterbacking I have seen Ewers was scarred stiff....but let's not forget in the first half he hit the player in the chest on a wide open play that might have scored. Just terrible all over the field DD
I like Ewers fine as a college QB, but Manning looks like a star in the making. I think Sark is handling it pretty well under the circumstances, getting Manning some experience while riding Ewers for his final year, but if the offense ever struggles again, I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of an "injury" that allows Ewers to save face and Manning to take over the position.
In hindsight: that was a welcome to the SEC moment. Georgia's defensive line is different than anything we played against in the Big 12 and our offensive line was totally overmatched. We thought we had the best line in the country and they were annihilated by a defensive front full of NFL talent. I was against switching to Arch and I'm glad Quinn went back in. There wasn't a quarterback in the world who could've survived against what Georgia was doing to do. Receivers weren't open and the offensive line was a sieve. I agree that Arch is the future, but he still finished with negative rushing yards, despite a few runs, because of the sacks. He didn't deserve to get thrown to the wolves when it was clear our issues were holistic and not 100% on Quinn. I wish we could win one of these big home games. We're 0-3 in recent years against LSU, Alabama and Georgia.
This. We wanted in the SEC and that was SEC football. Wasn’t expecting the OL to get obliterated but UGA DL has been the gold standard under Kirby. The big concern moving forward is Ewers which I really didn’t see coming. The run game is non-existent and should expect teams to just dial up the pressure on him as much as possible.
