I like Maalik but I’d be really surprised if either of those schools went after him.

I got a NC game ticket. Hopefully Texas makes it. Either way Christmas is cancelled this year kids. Talk about an expensive ticket.

WOW, congratulations man. I can't imagine how cool it might be to see Texas play for a natty in Houston.

It seems to me the only reason to enter the portal now instead of 3 or 4 weeks from now is if you're trying to go to an elite school. A lesser school would jump at the chance to grab him in a month, but the top schools will probably have already found a QB by then.

If I were him, I'd have transferred the day Arch said he was coming to Texas because it was pretty clear he was going to get squeezed out. But at this point, why not stay a few more weeks and see if you can win a national title? It's not like Ewers has been a picture of health thus far in his career.

It's a shame that the calendar doesn't account for this. I imagine that Sark and the team would welcome him back for any national championship celebration; they understand the economics of NIL and the portal landscape.

Going to a better school probably means more NIL money for Maalik and that could be important if he isn't good enough to go pro.

Murphy loved Texas and the program. I bet he would have stayed if Ewers wasn't coming back. The two concerns right now are:

    1. What happens if Ewers gets injured during the playoffs? I guess we would have still been screwed based on Murphy's performance this season.
    2. If we win the championship game, then will Ewers still stay? If not, are we ready to have Arch as the starter next season?

This. The portal closes on Jan 2nd which means he’d have to enter the day after the Sugar Bowl regardless of the outcome. Plus these kids need and should take visits which isn’t ideal if you are legitimately practicing for the game.

With the expanded playoffs, they’ll probably need to change the dates or make exceptions for teams in the CFP.

USC has 2 guys, one being Malachi Nelson (#1 recruit in the nation in '22/23), so no, I don't see him there.

Rooting for Maalik, he's got serious talent.

I'll be watching it later tonight!

I believe they beat the #1/2/3 teams in the country.

Credit is due to God, not Sark, clearly.
