jesus. tone that down a bit and paying the athletes a bit each year shouldn't be a problem at all lol
Very interesting. https://www.espn.com/college-sports...l-football-prepare-commitment-texas-longhorns
Precarious situation for Sark here. Sure TX high school coaches aren't happy about this but don't think you can necessarily pull his offer. Reading that there was a big fall out with the coaching staff so that doesn't help.
Apparently yes, lot of message board chatter that this was not the first or second time either. Pretty sure Sark isn’t happy with this situation.
This might be Sark's biggest addition so far. Kid brings some serious speed into the RB group, apparently a nice receiver out of the backfield as well. RB depth behind Bijan was a concern for me but Keilan could make this one of the top groups in the country IMO. Texas added another transfer from Tuscaloosa on Sunday evening. Alabama running back Keilan Robinson announced his commitment to Texas, adding another talented back to Stan Drayton’s position group. Graduate transfer outside linebacker Ben Davis previously made the same move from Tuscaloosa to Austin. Robinson played in eight games in 2019 for the Crimson Tide, carrying the ball 39 times for 254 yards and two touchdowns. He opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns. A product of St. John’s in Washington, D.C., Robinson was a four-star prospect in the class of 2019. He chose Alabama over 20 other offers. Excerpt from the Recruiting Notebook Strengths: A compact and well-proportioned runner. Great footwork out of his stance and presses the hole quickly and decisively. Great vision. One-cut and gone runner who will excel in the outside zone game. Exceptional cut, acceleration and top end speed. Has lateral wiggle evident on film and seems like a slippery menace. Legs move on contact and is always leaning forward. Does not give up on plays and always seems to get something for his efforts. Sark knows him from Bama so he’s a known commodity to the staff. Areas for Improvement/Concern: A lot of unknowns as there is limited film on this player. Pass protection/receiving are unknown. Hasn’t played meaningful football in a while. Build and durability likely different now. Robinson is the sixth transfer addition ahead of the 2021 season.
Why would pulling his offer even be thought about? I can see both sides and I have to ask what is the status of his current team and offensive line, this is 2021 and players at that level need to be looking out for themselves, what left does he have to prove at the high school level? If he is willing to sit out I have to wonder about the Klien coaching staff.
Texas HS Coaches are a finicky group and keeping good relationships with them is a huge deal. Don’t see this sitting well with them especially if it’s a sign of things to come. Also this is a really good Texas class with ten 5* kids, none of which are sitting out so hard to use the nothing left to prove excuse. That being said, Blue is a top prospect whom you move forward with regardless. But don’t see Sark or any other college coach being happy with kids voluntarily sitting out whole seasons.
Texas HS Coaches can be finicky all they want, they don't hold supreme power over recruits that they once did. They also have to maintain relationships with athletes they have to low down recruit as well. I have no idea what you mean by the bolded, him having nothing to prove is not an excuse it's a fact. It does not matter if Sark or any other coach is happy with it it's not their decision to make. This is 2021 and Coaches don't hold the supreme power they previously had and they will have to make concessions accordingly.
Sure it's an excuse. This is the exact same case for all of the top prospects, yet Blue is the only one opting out I believe. I'm not admonishing the kid by any means, certainly not my place to do so. But I would almost guarantee you that Sark, Saban, Jimbo or whoever it is would rather have a 17 year old commit play and develop vs sitting out and not playing football for 1.5 years. And yes they will make concessions for top players like Blue. But that doesn't mean there'll be blanket concessions. Reminds me of when teams backed off from Zach Evans a few years ago. Different circumstances for sure but Evans was an elite prospect in his own right. I don't know what the facts are with Blue but kids getting into with coaches, sitting out, etc...aren't ideal situations. But like I said, seems like Sark is willing to move forward so moot point.
