I would say it's 50-50. At this point, he won't be drafted, but would probably get invited to camp. If he thinks he really doesn't have a shot in the NFL, then playing an extra year at Texas isn't a bad thing for him.

I don't know if the fanbase will let Ehlinger play another year. Ehlinger has had 4 years as QB at Texas. After seeing Thompson shine, Herman will be under too much pressure if Ehlinger is still QB1.

Agreed. I like Sam but it's time to move on from him. And IF Herman is indeed brought back for another year, dude has to replace Herb Hand and let Yurchich have full control of the offense.

The ONLY way I let Ehlinger back, is if he converts to H-back or Tight End, and you have some special plays for him to throw as well.

He can't come back at QB, it is time to move on....

I'm assuming he'll be on someone's practice squad/3rd QB next year, but what's a good transfer destination for him?

Sam? It’ll be UT or NFL for him.

Oh I know, that's why I said PS or 3rd string QB, was more of a thought experiment (what good team is losing a QB and doesn't have a one waiting in the wings?) if he wanted to come back and Herman said "no".

Woah. Don’t think this happens unless his replacement is in place. The timing is really interesting considering Brian Kelly has been mentioned.

He made the right move. Gotta take your shot at competing with the big boys, especially at a higher pay grade.

Man hope this is another Chip Brown “Herman will be the coach in 2021” report. Sark would be a very underwhelming and risky hire IMO.

It wasn’t great if your goal is to compete with the big boys and make top dollar.

Wow, risky, but Herman just wasn’t ready.
