Ossai could make the switch although I hope Ash moves him around ala Sergio Kindle. Kid was an absolute wrecking ball vs. Utah. Marques Bimage and Jacoby Jones should see some time at DE as well. And yes that’s the apparent story with Shepherd along with getting into fights and badmouthing us to recruits.
It's funny looking back. I believe 5ish years ago UT had a "top 5" class, and by far the best 2 players in retrospect both turned out to be all-conference and are having solid NFL careers, they were a 3* OL named Connor Williams and a 3* DL named Charles Omenihu. So you never know.
Holton Hill hasn't done bad in Minnesota. That's the only other recent Texas player I can think of in the NFL.
Poona Ford has become a nice player for the Seahawks. But it seems forever since we’ve put a premier player in the league.
Like this note from 247 today. Herman/Ash wants the defense to play faster and think shedding some pounds is a good start. Looking at Clemson, OSU, and even Bama’s DL, a lot of their guys don’t seem to be carrying that type of weight anymore.
Mainly because Charlie Strong couldn't evaluate worth a sh**, taking low and mid four star prospects with clear red flags.
The two sons are still highly interested in Texas; that hasn't changed. However, the dad wants certain training and conditioning methods Herman's staff doesn't use. Clemson was someone to watch until they waited to offer James. Alabama just offered James, but Texas has been out in front of them. Occam's razor would suggest that their interest in Texas wins out unless the team falls apart next year.
Fowler played a year at Texas then transferred to Sam Houston State. He's been decent but not great there. Shark is McCulloch's nickname, not Fowler's
It takes a while to get over the damage Patterson can do. That goes throughout the program. Football/Basketball just stick out more.
Let’s hope Herman fares better, he seems to be slightly so far. But I am cautiously encouraged by the staff changes. Yurchich and Boulware are big time improvements and think Coleman will get more out of the WRs than Mehringer did. The defense changes are a bit of an unknown although I think experience along with the scheme change will help.
