Not sure I'd chalk this up as a no-AD problem since Luck, Currie, Byrne, or whoever they bring in could have very well given the okay just like Perrin did. But yes Fenves should've called both of them to his office and said hell f*cking no.
I would not be shocked if UT is in contention for a spot in the playoff next year, Herman is that good a coach and their is depth and talent left over from Strong. The fact that Herman was willing and able to sign Casey Horney gives us an idea of the influence/power Herman has right now.... he will continue to cultivate and expand his influence, as it is his personality. Ultimately it won't matter if he hires Horney or signs the Joe Mixon's of the world if he wins big and keeps his kids eligible.
All I can say is I hope they keep the values culture that Strong instilled and not resort to starting criminals because they can play football.
I think they have a shot to compete for the conference but I don't see them finishing the season with only 1 loss and getting close to the playoffs.
Big recruiting weekend for Herman and Co. 10+ recruits visiting with some early enrollees moving in as well (Ehilinger and Toneil Carter).
Apparently they've already started upgrading the facilities and it's starting with the weight room. This is the first time I would watch coverage of the Longhorn Network outside the games themselves. I hope they are covering all of this.
Why Texas high school football coach believes Charlie Strong was a ‘horrible hire’ at Texas 123 comments It didn’t take Strong long to make some enemies. http://www.burntorangenation.com/20...-texas-high-school-football-coaches-longhorns
Not communicating with the HS Coaches was a silly mistake, but complaining about Strong going after Florida kids is petty stuff. Oh well, upwards and onwards for both sides.
The quotes from the coaches make them sound selfish and whiny. Their job is to help give their players the best advice possible, but it seems they would only steer kids to Texas if the coach gives them lots of personal attention. It makes them sound like they just want a bunch of coddling instead of giving fair and good advice to the kids.
