I'm really tired of hearing how coaches don't have as much of a chance at Texas. How many large schools would be ok with a 16-24 record in 3 years? Mike Sherman got 4 years but he tied for 1st in the big 12 north with 9 wins in year 3. Charlie would keep his job if he finished like that this year.
I think I would be OK if Herman went to LSU. 9-3 in AAC isn't good. However Strong needs to go. How about Art Briles. UT probably has a much bigger compliance department so he would have less chance of screwing up.
Hell no. You would have rioting on campus if they hired Briles. National media have thrown out Dabo Swinney which would be amazing but I don't know why he would leave Clemson.
In terms of championships, at least. Are they tied or better than any of these?... OSU Michigan Miami Alabama Oklahoma FSU Penn State Florida Notre Dame Horns baseball does very nice, but the hoops aren't nearly good enough at all.
They are second all time in wins. At this point I believe the Texas is a better job then Miami and Penn State. They are the flag ship school of the either the best or 2nd best state for football talent, and they have more money than anyone else.
Look at us, we win the money crown! Screw the money. UT cares more about money than about their own fans and alumni. I loved my time there as a student. It's a great school and a great town. But damn, every decision they make is about winning that money crown.
He'd be a hard choice because, barring a loss, he's probably not available to even discuss the job until early/mid January.
How many of those schools are we tied or leading in championships? The total wins is a very nice stat. Kudos to the Horns on that note. How does the win % compare to everyone?

Figured the overall would be lesser. I'll consider UT 6th All-Time as a couple schools ahead are lacking longevity. Sixth is no slouch, just not top 5 even by that criteria. Do better*...... basketball too. *I will say Texas, as a State, has more schools to go around vs Ohio, Pennsylvania, or Michigan. Texas' population advantage doesn't offset the total school advantage. Florida seems to be the most ballin overall... Seminoles, Cane, and Gators have all won, somewhat recently at least.
