Strong is just a decent coach, not an elite one, he doesn't have a grasp of the little things like Saban or Meyer..... UT should be competing for a Big 12 title in his 3rd year - he is just not going to ever get it done. DD
With our remaining schedule, Strong will have every chance to prove himself. Even though the defense was still terrible versus OU, they seem to be playing with more focus and fire, and tackling has been way better.
This team really only needs a secondary coach that can actually coach more than just effort. Bedford is in over his head at Texas. I really think we should throw all kinds of money at Jerry Gray to run the defense if Strong manages to stick around.
Ya Jennings has been another bust hire. But if Strong gets another year, think he's better off calling the plays and controlling his own destiny as much as he can. Too much at stake to put in someone else's hands, especially given his hiring track record. But not sure who we could expect if he brings one in. Hard to see a big name coming for what essentially would be a 1 year only guarantee. And if you're Texas, you undoubtedly will have to pay 2x or 3x for the same.
He'd kill it at LSU but not Texas? Does not even compute. Is it because he can't figure out how to defend the Texas HS football playbook the BIG 12 brought into their ranks?
That's a big part of it IMO. And as good as a recruiting job he has done at Texas, think he'd be even better recruiting Louisiana, Texas and the rest of the south into the SEC. Just my opinion though...
Can't upload the tweet from work but some guy named Holden Steele tweeted: Hearing @NCAA is investigating @UTAustin and @Longhorn_FB for tampering violations re Baylor signees. BU has text evidence from recruits.
The only thing I've seen recently is the continued investigation of Baylor's Title IX violations. I haven't seen anything regarding Texas committing recruiting violations.
When Spurrier and the Gators were Fun 'n Gunning all over the SEC I don't remember people calling the spread a HS offense.
Worry about K State first. What would make you so confident anyway? Seth Russell is coming to town. A WR won't be playing QB this season.
