Cool, you're not interested in UH, so you have no reason to talk about them. Everybody wins. :)

Sucks. This will open up more opportunities for Turgeron and Brown to do some work though.

Nope, I have always enjoyed UH sports, back to when I was 8ish and watched Akeem and Clyde at Hofheinz. Just trying to be realistic as to why those schools don't compete; for better or worse that's just how it is, and it has little to do with who the AD is in Austin: there's lots of bad blood amongst the monied alumni.

Well, we know which school has the rich alumni. it's up to them to influence the athletic department.

There is significantly large amount of UT alumni in Houston.

Yeah, that's why they play a game in Houston every year.

Why is the onus on UT? Let the Coogs build something after years of - let's be honest - really really ****ty men's sports. Yall hired Penders for christ's sake. If UH gets back to where they should be, I guarantee you they'll play again, but it may take a few more years (aggies 2020ish).

That's all completely kosher with me. But, do you understand why it chaps my ass that somebody would go on and on about how much better they are than UH, when they're (meaning that particular person) unwilling to play UH? If you're going to say you're better, that puts the onus on you to prove it. That was the entire point and catalyst of this argument.

I am very much looking forward to watching the Coogs get to play a bigtime team since UT will be in the Champs Bowl or whatever....yall's defense is scary though.

And I understand things from both sides. I just hope UH keeps getting better; new stadium soon, yeah?

This is a pretty baseless post Donny. Can you name one instance that this has proven to be true? Yes I remember the threat of putting the UT/A&M game into law, but what happened with that? Absolutely nothing, and there was probably a ton of people on both sides demanding that game. The truth is that it's not that simple.

Once again, it's not nearly as simple as you're putting it. If it was, the UT/A&M game never would've gotten canceled in the first place. Also, I don't think the 01-03 series was scheduled because of demand, it was scheduled because UT wanted/wants exposure in Houston and UH would get to play a high profile team (and please don't read that as a knock against UH).

I'm not here to argue UT vs. UH, but I do think you're over simplifying the whole thing.

I somehow ended up getting sucked into some larger hypothetical discussion about what it would take to get a UH v UT game lined up, when that was really never my point or intention.

I'll just refer you to what I told Buck, there are some UT fans around here who claim to be superior to UH, but refuse to play us. That smells of the stankiest poop, agree?

We are better than UH any other year, probably not this year if we are going to have injuries to our key players. Quit talking about UH, I don't go into UH threads talking about UT.

    My bad.

Btw...who was the 7foot Brazilian guy for UH in the late 80's? I remember he had a huge-ish fanclub in the bottom corner of the stands behind the bench, complete with country flags and chicks in bikini tops. He was my favorite Coog at the time, and the only one I really remember. Sorry Greg Anderson, Craig Upchurch and Tim Moore (all of whom I thought would be stars in the NBA)

    Maybe 2018?

5 years ago, were you harping on about how UT wasn't scheduling UH, Donny? If we were to push for UH vs UT, it probably wouldn't be until 2018. Who knows how good or how bad UH might be then?

I'd answer your question, but unfortunately you have barred me from discussing UH in this thread. C'est la vie. :(

It's okay I already knew the answer lol; but I've made my point clear; fans can't choose who we play so deal with it

That was never the point, dude. Go back and read post #686. I ain't got no beef with the UT fanbase at large. Just a couple of chucklenuts who refuse to put their money where their mouth is. (And Deloss, he can smoke a turd in hell)

Your entire argument was based on that "one particular person" the whole time? 1. That person has no power to schedule so no matter how much trash he might be talking, you can't rip on him for "not scheduling UH". 2. Ignore people like that.

Exactly how can they do that? Sounds like you got sucked into a much larger hypothetical discussion than you thought.

Ugh, swing and a miss again. Nevermind. If you don't see how lame it is to call yourself "better" than somebody and yet refuse to play them (once again, on an individual level, not an institutional level) then we're never going to see eye to eye on this one. And yeah, ignoring would probably be a good idea.

Pretty simple. They could say "I would love to play UH, anytime, anywhere". Problem solved. Nuts officially on the dresser.

If he does, it will be a burnt orange bacon-wrapped truffle-oil flavored turd eaten in a golden-fleece-lined concentric circle of hell equipped with throw pillows & ****, all provided by the fan base. He's untouchable until he decides to quit.
