It's a bit late for Kelly to get a job in college. He might sit out a year if he wants to go back.

Chip Kelly would make UT instantly better.

A little too late I'm afraid. Perrin and Fenves already committed to a 3rd year and as much as I had my eye on Kelly throughout the season, think it's best that we see it through. Gilbert is a huge upgrade at OC and interested in seeing what he can do along with a maturer defense.

If I'm Kelly, I sit out next season unless another NFL team comes calling. He'll get his pick of college openings next year.

UT need try to get Kelly this year, not next year. I said that Strong was not good last year, it turned out to be right. Kelly will make UT better within a year, not two years, not three years either.

Not sure what to think since I think you'd be hard pressed to find a position coach turning down an interview for a HC job.

Disappointing though as this breaks exactly 2 weeks after accepting a raise to stay. Also read that him or his agent reached out and not the other way around.

I don't think Traylor will be hired. However, this is Texas State we are talking about, so I know there are no guarantees. Traylor has been great at recruiting East Texas and as a steady presence on Strong's offensive staff.

I agree that there is a big difference between the 2 and as a Longhorn, I'd take Herman over Strong without a doubt. Just saying that if you are giving credit to Herman for winning a NC as a coordinator and a bowl win over a big P5 school as justification for a big contract, then got to do the same for Strong. One thing Strong had going for him was 4 years of experience. If Herman has another season like he just had, then it just proves what most of us already know.

I guess you didn't read all my posts in the other thread. I said the offer will be contingent on Herman having another season like this one and Strong not have a 9-10 win season. We are debating the details. If Herman has another season like this season, he will be the hottest young coach since Urban Meyer at Utah.

This. If UT goes 9-3 or 10-2 and in a good bowl game, Strong will remain. Anything less likely gets him canned...especially if a Herman or Chip Kelly are available.

Brandon Jones has some similarities to Earl Thomas.

Would be big if the Horns were able to turn Whaley from Arkansas.

Any idea who we are targeting? We really need some defensive line players, a safety, linebackers, and a center

Picked up a center in Zach Shakelford this afternoon, he is also an early enrollee which is huge considering the need. The top 2 safeties and LBs in Texas were also there.
