Relative to what? That #21 ranking seems kind of ridiculous right now, doesn't it? Or perhaps South Carolina isn't even a top 50 team?
Best defense I've seen from the longhorns since the championship team. Strong and Bedford are legit on defense. The offense has a long ways to go especially now that they have lost their best and most experienced lineman.
Some observations: 1. The run blocking needs to improve. Sedrick Flowers is not going to cut it. Also, the backup center needs to figure things out quickly. 2. The receivers have to do better at getting open. It seems to me that Jaxon Shipley (and others) disappears for large sections of the game. 3. Ash has to be more consistent with his throws. I'm thinking this will improve with time. 4. The play calls on offense were too conservative. It could be Watson/Wickline wanted a game for adjustment, which is okay if we crank it up against BYU and UCLA.
...let me answer my own question: Blake Munroe ā€¸Horns247 Charlie Strong said that center Dominic Espinosa will have to get an x-ray before they know more about his injury he sustained tonight. #ut
North Texas Passing: Josh Greer: 2-11 8 yards, 3x sacked, 2 INT, QB rating -12.1 Andrew McNulty: 1-6 7 yards, 1x sacked, 2 INT, QB rating -40.2 Those might be the worst quarterback performances I've ever seen.
The defense was nasty although I won't get too ahead of myself. It was North Texas. Pass Offense was pretty bad at times, but I did like how Brown and Gray played for the most part.
Ash and the offensive line are the most pressing concerns at the moment. With Espinosa out, the O-Line especially could be cause for concern.
Chip Brown reporting UT center and offensive captain Dominic Espinosa out for the year with a broken ankle. #$&%!#&$%#%!
According to multiple sources as told to HornsDigest. Still possible Espinosa can get a medical redshirt and play a 6th year.
