no, he did, but that contract doesn't have a buyout, from what I understand

Haven't read anything that he actually signed it, but rather has agreed to it. Doesn't really matter since there is no buyout.

But apparently Fisher and Briles are the front runners at the moment and Franklin's name has started to float around today.

I'm hearing he will take the Texas job and become the first man to coach at 2 schools at the same time.

I read that it is Saban 1a and Fisher 1b. Everyone else is far behind. Chip brown says Saban is dead, Jesus Shuttlesworth and McPhaul say it's not. It'll be very interesting to see who's being fed misinformation and who's not in the next few days. Especially after Oregon whips our ass on Monday

I don't think anyone knows anything. I'm sure more stories will be broken after the BCS games. I wouldn't be shocked to see things move very quickly after the season ends. (within days)

If they don't want/can't get Briles, they should have Strong on speed dial.

Strong's resume goes beyond Bridgewater. His work at Florida was quite superb.

If you're going to discount "a couple of good seasons" for Strong, then you should apply that standard to Briles as well. If you take the best years away from any coach's resume, chances are they aren't going to look that hot otherwise.

Like I said, Briles is the lead candidate and rightly so, but that's a curiously shallow opinion you have on Strong.

Well look at what Strong did at UL. He had a couple of mediocre seasons followed by a couple good ones. Not a lot of great years on the resume. Plus he basically airlifted a bunch of Florida recruits up to UL where they dominated crappy competition in a weak league. UL's schedule this year was a complete joke.

I'm sure UT wouldn't mind airlifting a bunch of kids from Florida down to Austin and pounding people, either. I'm sure UT also wouldn't mind a great QB like Bridgewater finally showing up on campus for them. No argument that Louisville's schedule this year is crap, but like I said, you can't discount what he did as Florida's DC. He deserves to be on their radar, and IMO, 2nd in line for an interview.

Strong will likely be looking to leave...losing Teddy + the move to a tougher conference could make him look like a very average coach next season.

If Saban fails,I think we go Fisher. I don't think Briles would be a good fit but if he's really an option I would prefer Fisher over him by a long shot

I don't know if Briles would fit the UT environment. There is something about him I can't put my finger on.

He doesn't fit the UT "culture". But that culture is part of the problem with the program, so I hope they get someone like that - someone who doesn't prioritize boosters and PR, etc.

You can say that any coach had a couple of mediocre years followed by a couple of good ones. It is rare that a coach comes in and sets the world on fire right away. Remember that he was able to take the job he has now because the team was bad enough to fire the previous coach.

It shouldn't need to be insightful to show you the obvious.
