With 100 million bucks and ownership in LHN I wouldn't even give a damn about sports anymore. I'd be worried about managing my money and having fun. There's a real opportunity to create life-changing wealth and transcend a typical coaches lifestyle (MLM copy). Seriously though, if I was Saban and started slacking, then got fired, I'd be like **** it man, $100 million - suckers. Coach some bozo 18 year olds, or fly to Paris and get one of them french prostitutes? Hmm... makes Petrino look like a tool. A sad, poor, tool.

Tell me about it. Just imagine how the AU folks will roast the UA folks if Auburn wins Saturday, Ohio State loses and UT announces Saban as their new head coach.

I'll go ahead and say that if Saban comes to Texas (I still don't believe it will happen), I don't think he wins a title anytime soon. His defenses are designed to absolutely shutdown traditional pro-style offenses and they do that phenomenally well. But his nemesis is the spread offense, which he'll face weekly in the Big12. He's been lucky to face 3 craptastic offenses in his national title runs at Alabama (Notre Dame, LSU, and a Texas team without Colt McCoy). Good spread offenses tend to put up points against them - and he's going to be dealing with several of those every year with Baylor, OSU, and OU for the near future.

That's not to say he's not a great coach - he obviously is. Or that any of the other coaches are better overall than him - they aren't. But his big weakness is exacerbated in the B12 while it's absolutely minimized in the SEC with so many terrible offenses there.

I don't think Saban's coming either, but I don't think this is a factor. Saban has a formula to win the SEC and the national championship. Most of the teams he plays don't run a wide open spread like Big 12 teams do, so he schemes and recruits to stop the pro style-spread hybrids in the SEC. If he came to the Big 12, I'm sure he would realize his system doesn't work as well and would recruit/scheme appropriately.

Seems like the latest rumors are that Saban is deep into big $$$ contraction extension negotiations at Bama. Well played by his agent, if so.

So the Texas insider forum is saying Saban to Texas is a done deal, but the Bama insider forum is saying Saban has agreed on an extension.. This will be interesting

    Rotoworld:

SI.com is reporting that Mack Brown's status as head coach is unknown entering Saturday's game against Baylor.

"It's up in the air," a high-ranking Texas official told Pete Thamel. "My thought is he'll probably do the right thing for himself and Texas and step down. But coaches have something in their DNA that don't normally let them do that. How many times have you seen it? With [Joe] Paterno or [Bobby] Bowden? People forget Darrell Royal was 5-5-1 in his last season." The source said that the result of Saturday's game against Baylor has no bearing on Brown's status, win or lose. "I personally hope he decides to retire and go out on a good note," the source said.

    Rotoworld:

The website Inside Texas reported on Thursday night that Alabama head coach Nick Saban will be announced as Longhorns' coach after the season.

We don't generally print rumors like this, but the Internet lit up with chatter over this report. There's been smoke surrounding the Saban-to-Texas rumors since The Associated Press reported that Saban's agent met with Longhorn regents in January. In a web chat on Thursday, an IT writer with the pen name Jesus Shuttlesworth told premium subscribers that he believes Mack Brown will announce his resignation before the team's season-ending banquet. The writer later added, "Chancellor at Bama says Saban to Texas. That's the big news." It's important to note that no other media outlets has substantiated this report, though SI.com reported on Friday that Brown's status as Longhorns head coach is "up in the air."

    TideFans:

The University of Alabama and head coach Nick Saban are close on terms of a contract extension that would lock Saban to Alabama well into the next decade, sources told TideFans.com on Friday.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source told TideFans.com that Alabama and Saban have agreed in princple to terms on a deal. The contract would be for multiple years and would include a raise from his current deal, which pays him around $5.5 million annually. While exact figures were not yet known, the raise was described as “significant” and is all but certain to make Saban the first college football coach earning more than $6 million per year.

Not true. There was no mention of a buyout, if there's like a 15-20mil one then it's a problem. But yeah he got an extension for 3.8/yr, but we could offer a million or two more per year. If Saban falls through we could play ball

Says a twitter account with 1000 followers. "I got a text message"

The only thing to believe is the press conference announcing a hire or extension.
