You may be right about that, I sure hope your wrong though. Strong and Shaw are both outstanding coaches, I don't care if you are black, white, green, yellow or orange.
You seem to forget that Sumlin was OC in 2001 at A&M, and that Melvin Watkins was the basketball coach for several years. It isn't like last year is the first time A&M ever hired a minority. That being said, I don't understand why people think Saban is going to Austin or anywhere else. Why would Saban take that job to rebuild a program when he can stay at Bama and be in the spotlight year in and year out? Bama is one of the most storied programs in the country. It is a destination job.
I shouldn't have used A&M as an example. My point really wasn't about A&M. I hear ya on Alabama. I don't think Saban is leaving. My only point was that if it's just about money..and money alone...no one is outspending the University of Texas.
Both of them are excellent coaches. It's 2013 and has UT EVER had a black head coach in football, basketball, or baseball (men's)? I think we ALL know the answer to this and it's HELL NO!!! Don't give me any of this BS that UT is a progressive school when it comes to athletics. There is NO way in hell they'll hire a black head coach in football. Pretty sad if you ask me (and this is coming from someone who's white).
Eh, I think this is a bit overstated. In the past 20 years or so, they've only hired a total of 2 coaches in football and basketball, and those were both 15 years ago. Back then, no one was really hiring black coaches, at least in football. And 1 basketball coach is not really evidence one way or another.
Have I given you any BS about UT being progressive? I said, "it may be true, but I sure hope your wrong". No BS there so I'm not sure why the advisarial tone of your post towards me.
Well if you're white then this conversation is way more credible. You live in a weird where Texas A&M will hire a black coach but UT won't. You hire the right guy and Sumlin had a lot of steam last year. If the situation would have been reversed then UT would have hired him.
Three possible Mack Brown replacements mentioned in this thread having tough weeks so far. Gary Patterson - lost Charlie Strong - not playing well vs UK David Shaw - not playing well vs Army
What's the deal with LHN? Is it partially run by the school, because the guys on there never say anything negative. It's like I'm watching the post game press conference all over again, but with guys who didn't even play. LHN would be awesome if they discussed matters such as will Mack Brown be fired.
From posting on OB "There a few things I need to get off my chest before I tell you what I'm going to tell you. Some of you are rotten people and should be ashamed. Whatever DeLoss Dodds' faults as a leader of the athletic department might be, he's a man of the highest order and cares more deeply about the program and the people inside of it than you could ever think to know. Its one thing to talk about his performance on the job and it's another to have seen some of the reckless, mean remarks that I've seen on this board and others. Perhaps civil discourse is impossible in this day and age, but he's done too much for everyone that cares about this school to be treated like he has been by some, especially considering the circumstances. Another reason that I'm posting is that I now know people who know this very sensitive information and if they know it, my guess is that it will be public in a very tasteless manner sooner rather than later. I care too much for DeLoss as a person to see that happen. If you've been paying attention, you'll know that DeLoss did not make it to the game in Provo last weekend because he's been sick. I don't know if he's ever missed a game, but I don't recall it ever happening before, so that should tell you something right there. As the week went along, word within the athletic department started to spread that DeLoss does not have the flu. Although none of the specifics are any of your business because he deserves the upmost privacy, the nature of his illness is considered serious and that's all you need to know. Don't automatically assume the worst, but please keep him in your prayers. Based on a conversation I had yesterday with a department head, the date being discussed for DeLoss' final day is 12/31/13. This was as hot of a discussion around the 40 Acres yesterday as today's game. You've got people worried about jobs and whether a change of this nature will impact them, so you can only imagine the emails, texts and phone conversations that were taking place. By the time I went to sleep last night, this information along with details of DeLoss' personal situation had come to reach the hands of dangerous individuals that I believe would use the information in attempt to hurt DeLoss and the program. Undercutting this dangerous individual and others is half of my motivation for writing all of this. The second motivation has more to do with my own current dissatisfaction with what is happening at the very top levels of Bellmont and it goes well beyond the level of muck taking place here this week. Members of athletic department might have been talking behind the scenes about what has been going on, but no one was prepared for the Orangebloods report that came out yesterday afternoon. On a perfect day to be a fly on the wall, you cannot fathom the level of anger directed at this site for reporting this story. It doesn't matter that the information was true and that everyone in the building was calling their beer buddies to be the first to have the scoop, Bellmont was volcano mad yesterday afternoon. If Chip Brown had walked into the parking lot yesterday afternoon, there would have been a line of kids waiting to fight him. So angry are they that there had already been discussions before the end of the day to delay DeLoss' exit from the department on 12/31/12 for the sole purpose of making Chip look bad out of spite. Once that piece of knowledge reached my brain, I decided to come forward because if there has ever been a reason to request change, it's on the heels of hearing that the most important stages of our athletic department's move into the future might be guided by a high level of hate for a single Internet site. Let's just forget that the athletic department is in purgatory and its long-time leader is dealing with serious personal issues so that we can discredit a report that is actually true. That is the mindset we're dealing with and it has a lot more to do with those around DeLoss than it does him. The good news is that after they get over being pissed at Orangebloods, they'll realize that that too much has happened and too many influences are in play for them to delay this from happening. If I'm wrong and spite rules Bellmont's brain, at least everyone will know where our priorities are. There will not be a sequel and I'm not doing this for the purpose of creating my own Internet mythology. I've decided to come forward because I'm infuriated with some of the posters on this site, some of the people I know and quite a few people at Bellmont. The truth deserves daylight. My intention after I hit the send button will be to log off and to never log back on again. Any further action would potentially compromise my position within the athletic department and that's not going to happen. I'll simply go back to being one of the silent majority and life will go on with tonight's game and whatever happens next. Hook'em Bellmont Traitor"
