You're right, in a perfect world all colleges would have a similar Honor Code. But yeah, 4 football players tag-teaming a chic who's too drunk to walk ain't much to worry about. At least there's no homersekshuls on the team. Moral fiber I tell ya.
Buck, you can speculate wildly about some gang bang all you want. It is wild, unsubstantiated rumor, that I believe you probably made up on the spot. You certainly have no proof. The difference is one of UT's recruits was indicted on just that charge. Except worse -- the girl was 12. That's the difference.
No, man, came straight from a Rice faculty member heavily, and I mean heavily, involved in the case. The Harris County D.A's office was involved. Understandably, I'm not posting a name here, but they have some great stories on dealing with Hatfield as well. Why would I make it up?
really??? hatfield?? that's disappointing. i've understood him to be a pretty upstanding guy. sat next to him on a flight once.
Tell you what Buck, when that case goes to trial, or even gets an indictment, let me know. Until then, it is irresponsible for you to spread unsubstantiated rumors. Your rumor certainly flies in the face of the outstanding track record of Rice athletics when it comes to morals and values. Sounds like sour grapes to me, quite frankly. I don't believe you. At all.
oh...good. by the way...my 4 year old son has decided he's going to Rice. my father took him to a game there and he came back talking non-stop about how he could see the skyline from the stadium and how he wanted to go there. everytime we pass it he says, "that's where i'm gonna go to college." he better be a lot smarter than me! or at least a harder worker.
Wow, I was just wondering what had happened to you in another thread today. Good to see that you are still around.
Benson pled no contest to a criminal trespassing charge. The mar1juana/drug paraphanalia possesion charge was dropped (hmmmm....). He was sentenced to community service and 8 days in jail, which was reduced due to a lot of factors, one of which being overcrowding in the Travis Country jail. Sounds a lot like the Tim Moss (UT's former second baseman who beat up (with the help of friends) a man and then fled from police) case -- getting off easy.
You might help him to reconsider. Apparently you get an outstanding education and an insatiable inferiority complex.
That "man" hit Tim's girlfriend. Tim made a mistake by running. The friends jumped in, but Moss certainly wouldn't have needed their help. You know, Ced made an error in judgement, but in my younger days, if I thought a guy stole my 3K tv, I'd be tempted to break in. It was still stupid, but 21 year olds make mistakes in judgement. UT athletes aren't any different from athletes at most large universities, imo, no better or worse. We don't get the same kids that you do, Jorge. Manny, my roomie is battling it out with SBC, so no internet access at home these days. Can't get time warner. Thanks for asking about me. I should be posting more in April when I move to NYC.
