The mwc taking this letter from SDSU as an official resignation is pretty hilarious. Lawyers gonna be working overtime.
On the one hand you feel bad for SDSU being stuck in this position completely hung out to dry by the PAC. On the other hand they also handled this about as poorly as anyone could. That letter was a train wreck. Lmao.
Trying to read between the lines here but wouldn’t a PAC TV deal anywhere near the Big 12’s cover the exit fee and still be a pretty large windfall to SDSU compared to whatever they’re getting from the MWC?
I'm sure it would be, certainly in the long run. Why the PAC hasn't invited SDSU yet I do not understand. Seems like an absolute nobrainer.
There's almost zero chance they would have written that letter unless the PAC had basically told them, "you're in, contingent upon X". The question is, what is X? What's most likely going on is the PAC is balls deep in its TV negotiation and SDSU's addition is part of that calculus. Why their invite has to wait until after the TV deal is ratified? I have no idea. It's very likely that SMU and SDSU will be added to pad out inventory, if for no other reason.
Big 12 officiating is horrible in general but read a stat that there was 1 holding call called against UT opponents last season. OkSt didn’t have a single penalty called against us. Interesting to see how many times that has happened.
Man, I really wanted to see SDSU get destroyed in court. MWC thought better of it though. No reason to burn a bridge.
