The Colorado attorney is getting roasted. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a 7-2 decision. But, I'm just a guy listening to a live feed.

Edit: I'm going with 8-1 against Colorado but for varying reasons.

I suspect they will rule against CO as well.

but on what grounds? not the insurrection question.

They will claim states rights. Oh wait, they will claim states don't have *that* right. But its clear both sides tried to get the court to talk to the topic of "insurrection". trump's lawyer tried to claim what happened wasn't an insurrection but a riot. The trump justices tried to to reduce the insurrection clause as "self-executing". Both sides argued what a insurrection was and was not. alito even asked whether it would be an insurrection if POTUS gave aid to a foreign country who hated us (obviously trying to insert help for critics of Biden who claim he paid Iran money).

It was clear from the get go that the ussc would shoot down CO. And since any state that considered following CO would not vote for trump anyway, the effect on this election is minimal. But... the court is also setting up to protect trump on the more important case...immunity.

you seem to have a remarkable grasp of the inner workings of SCOTUS.

however, I suspect you're incorrect. you may bookmark this post as well.

For immunity, I think it may be the self-executing part or does the president count part. I don't think absolute immunity will be granted. These two decisions will go opposite - my worthless opinion.

Hoping you are correct, but confidence in this supreme court is at an all-time low.

All the maga commentators celebrating the supreme court decision. It was a big trump win. They will have further cause to celebrate next week I fear.

No, but from all indications, they will side with trump and that's ok, he should be on the ballot and let the people decide. I think the GOP led initiative was shaky from the start but it got all the way to SCOTUS so it had some merit

The SC needs to decide on merit.

Saying "Let the people decide" essentially implies ignoring the Constitution and letting the people decide.

Can he run for a 3rd term? Nay, just let the people decide. Okay, then, Obama can run again, and we'll just let the people decide.

Poor choice of words on my part.........I meant there was validity to the case if SCOTUS took it up, not the merits of the facts of the case per say, my bad.

Justice Brown Jackson made a good point in that with ambiguity why decide against democracy?
