That's a high bar, one not easy to clear, Easy. Usman, merely a man like the rest of us, albeit a young man of amazing defensive skills at age 19, can only hope to match the gravitas and charisma of Chuck Hayes. We can hope. Time, and Usman, will give us the answer.
to be honest i trust usman more with the ball than wall...and someone needs to take the ball from that ballhogs hands
If you want the ball more then get more rebounds, that simple. Dwight Howard had a similar problem wanting the ball more in the post. If you want the ball more do more of what you do well to get the ball more. It helps the team and is less selfish.
He would fit in with the rest of the team then. I would honestly rather give a young player like this a shot than keep seeing john wall and eric gordon bricks.
I would really like to see him develop his game into a Rodman type role. Lock down anyone, every rebound is his, all the loose balls end up being his, when he runs on the fastbreak he gets some dunks and putbacks. If he learns to shoot then great, but elite defense, elite rebounding, elite hustle could be his calling card. He'll get his chance at the Vipers to shoot, better be good if he wants to do it in the NBA.
Good to have players wanting to improve. But he got drafted in the NBA by being who he is. Garuba needs to prove he is able to handle and shoot. Until then, do what you do best - defend.
