Looking to get my first car ever this summer (if my finances treat me well). I'm trying to get a large four-door sedan (I'm obsessed with them) that has a not-crappy interior and that is low-maintenance for $10,000 or less. Any suggestions?
How about a dodge charger? It's a big body wide body 4 door sedan. Pretty sure you can find the early used model under 10k
My last two cars were a 2002 Deville/DHS and a 2006 Town Car, both of which were around $15k five years apart (Deville started leaking steering fluid right when I paid it off). Due to my size I had to get the biggest sedan possible (couldn't fit in a Concord); but you could probably get any Buick or a Mercury Grand Marquis the same age (2002-2006) for around $10,000. Back in the day my parents got a used Mercedes fetish and I don't think they ever paid more than $10,000; of course that was when new SELs sold for less than $75k, so to get around $10k you might go for an older and smaller one.
I used to have a 1994 chevy caprice with the police performance package. It was fun to drive for a large car.
Try looking at a used (1998-2002) Lexus LS400 or Acura RL. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?lastBeginningStartYear=1981&num_records=25&search_lang=en&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&search_type=used&distance=100&address=77478&marketZipError=false&make=LEXUS&model=LS400&make2=ACURA&model2=RL_MODELSCLASS_SERIES&make3=&start_year=1981&end_year=2013&min_price=1&max_price=10000&seller_type=b&transmission=&engine=&drive=&doors=&fuel=&max_mileage=&color=&keywordsrep=&keywordsfyc=&keywords_display=&sort_type=priceDESC&body_code=0&certified=&advanced=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&showZipError=n&default_sort=priceDESC&systime=&isFlashPlugin=true&dma=HOUSTON_SW&rdm=1331702061516
If you are looking at the RL remember that they have timing belts and if it hasn't been changed you're probably looking at replacing for the mileage that would be in your price range. ie expect to put another $500 in on that. Also be sure that the tires and brakes are good. That can also run you another 500-700. RLs are good cars but you don't want to spend all you have if it still needs some attention.
It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
Lincoln Town Car. The longest-lasting car ever made. Just get whichever one fits in your price range.
