Don't buy from a dealership. Buy from a private individual.

This. The same car at a dealership might be detailed to look nice and clean but they cost a couple grand more than buying from a private individual.

You can get a better interest rate if buying from a dealership vs individual. Which I think is lame.

In regards to dealership vs small independent car dealer:

I was told to buy a used car from a dealership since they have higher quality standards compared to a small independent car dealer. The bigger car dealership also has a reputation to maintain.

I would think a private individual would have the best price though.

Emailed the dealer about the car and asked them about questions and flexibility on the price. He just responded with calling me and not answering my emails.

Go look at what I posted in the first page if you want to know how to price the car.

What's a good interest rate? Should I get a loan with a bank or dealer?

Any other websites besides cargurus and autotrader to keep checking for a particular used car?

Interest rate will depend on your credit. On a used car I would use a credit union. DO NOT tell the salesman or manager you already are approved through a credit union, wait until after you have agreed on a price.

They will negotiate "payments" with you, but just say you want to know the drive out cost.

If they think you are not going to use their financing, they will be tougher on negotiations because they won't make any money on the back end.
