Still barely won? You make it sound like we were playing the Texas School for the Deaf instead of winning the National Title.
I live on the West Coast. I've seen almost all of his games. he's a great college qb. I just don't think he's going to be that good of a pro. His wobbly passes remind me too much of Cade McNown. USC pretty much moved the ball on UT the same way they've moved the ball all season. Maybe that "highy-touted" secondary isn't used to playing against explosive offenses.
Please don't be so bitter. Both teams got calls that fell their way, and both got calls against them. All in all, it was a pretty evenly called game. the officials did a GREAT job, in my opinion. That said, a win is a win, and yes, Texas WON.
got my hat at Academy over at Kirby just now, $24 for the freaking locker room hat no shirts, all they had were kid shirts. I check the Academy over on my side of town also, (I-10/Uvalde) and they had some Large locker room shirts, but im at least a XL May check Sports Authority later. btw, i maybe on TV, a camera dude from Ch. 13 was filming me when I was at the checkout line. If you see a large asian dude in a blue tshirt and gray Rockets hat, thats me
1. VY did NOT have the "game of his life". If you've been following the Horns all season, you would see that a performance like this was business as usual for Vince. The only difference between this game and his regular season performances is that he played all four quarters, something he didn't do much during the year. 2. Texas did, indeed, get some favorable calls. So did USC. The Trojans were the recipients of the most generous spots I've ever seen. The LJ tacked on an extra 1 to 1.5 yards to every USC rush. Both teams had calls go they're way. The difference: Texas capitalized on theirs. 3. Texas barely won. But they won. Run another six series with VY at QB and the Horns score another six TDs. I'm not a Longhorn homer (I'm from Houston, so my team is...*sigh*...the Cougars), but you've got to give them their props and take nothing away from them: when it counted the most, they came up with the plays and USC didn't. Period. Is USC's offense superior to UT's? Absolutely. But, unfortunately, they make you play BOTH sides of the ball, and USC's defense was exposed as a liability. UT had the better defense, and we all know defense wins championships.
There's an incredibly HUGE difference between getting a favorable spot from an official (which I didnt notice), and getting a favorable call on a scoring PLAY. yeah, USC's defense was just atrocious.
Leinart is good. He's also a sore loser and a big baby. I can't stand the guy. After the game, he said, "I still think we are still the better team." Too bad his team didn't prove it when it counted. He should have handled that better. Just admit defeat, and move on. Texas winning shouldn't have to take anything away from him, no need for him to be a baby about it.
you guys act like USC was gonna stop texas on that play. wasn't it first or second down inside the ten. they didn't stop them from that close in all night. but yeah that was the difference. go back to bed haters. maybe when you wake up USC will have won.
Coming from a non-biased standpoint, having no other affiliation other than being from the state of Texas, I just have to say that was one of the most amazing bowl games I have ever witnessed. That third quarter was simply something that I have never seen before in my life. VY left me speechless, Leinhart played great, Bush did what he could even though the focus of the defense was to stop him, White the workhorse. Congrats to the Longhorns and also to both teams for living up to the hype of this game and playing the game as it should be played.
Exactly right. If Vince Young was called down it would have only delayed a touchdown, not erased it. I have yet to see the case made how USC would have stopped the Longhorns even if Young was ruled down. Nothing in their play last night indicated they could have done that. Honestly bad calls went both ways. It is silly to blame a loss on the refs. If USC wanted they could have used a TO there so Texas couldn't get the extra point kick off. Then it would have been reviewed. USC chose not to do that. Vince Young was the best player on that field last night, and Texas managed to end up being the best team on that field.
I don't remembering the Texans scoring on every drive. Whos to say USC wouldn't have stopped them or held them to a field goal?
It's still kinda silly to say that was a given TD. They might as well just kickoff the ball everytime UT gets inside the 10 next season.
