Now, it will be hard for Lithuania to make a game plan, since they don't know whether Manu will play.
Scola was amazing. On a unstacked team he could be a 20-10 guy every night....... He just has to learn how to avoid those cheap fouls in the NBA.......
Maybe, maybe not. But you are saying that the reason Argentina got back into the game is all because the USA went to sleep, which is just not accurate. The zone by Argentina also had a major effect on the USA, they started hoisting 3s......which is not their strength. So, we are left with conjecture on what would have happened if Manu played and they went zone.... Either way, it does show that Scola is one helluva ball player....on any level. DD
I'm a little hesitant to transfer the numbers of todays game to NBA standards. Just because Scola seems like he is more comfortable in international ball not to mention that i doubt USA did much gameplanning on scola. They most likely focused on shutting down Manu.
Yep, which is why Scola should do very well in the NBA this year....with teams gameplanning to stop, Yao, Tmac and Artest.... DD
Did they really get "back" into it at all. I don't know about you guys but it seemed to me like we could have turned it on at anytime..... I mean we were consistently up by double digits.........
Touche. I think Scola is most effective in the system we have for him where he can scrap for offensive boards and putbacks. He seems to have a natural feel for the rebound.
No they didn't. As a matter of fact nobody did cause he couldn't be guarded. Further proving if Ginoboli did play it would've opened things up more and provided a nice 1-2 punch for Argentina instead of Scola single handedly trying to keep them in the game.
what adjustments did he make in western conference final where he sucked the whole series except one game...i hope you didn't wager on his performance...
Thats assuming that Scola would have had even half the amount of touches he had today. The only reason Scola was feed the ball was BECAUSE manu was out. If Manu had stayed in I seriously doubt Scola would have been used as much just beacuse Manu runs the offense when he is on the floor.
It was a 9 point game at the half, after that BS foul call on Anthony's 3pt attempt at the buzzer. Which makes you wonder, what would have happened if Manu was in there, and figured out they were focused on him, would the other players been effective? Would Manu give up the ball? The sad thing is that it would have been more fun to watch if Manu could have played more than 6 minutes.....because Argentina played a tough gritty match without 2 of their 3 best players at full strength in Manu and Nocioni. DD
That's assuming Ginobili would have played well.......with Kobe and Lebron all over him.... Ginobili has been known for disappearing acts.........
What does the western conference final have anything to do with this? Or any playoff game or NBA game for that matter? Please enlighten me.
It was incredibly accurate. You think this is the first time a team has played zone defense against the US in this tournament? I hate to break it to you but it's not. Instead of reacting like they had previously the US went to sleep on both ends and started settling for easy jumpers - they began the game 23-4 and the main focus of their defense went to the locker room. Then they got careless and lazy. This was obvious to anybody who had eyes. You're just going to have to hope your favorite player can come back for bronze. The excuses for Argentina simply don't hold much water given the way the game played out.
