Looks like Jurgen is making some serious changes to the coaching staff, and has added a much better tactical coach ahead of the WC. http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/usnationalteam/id/1649?cc=5901 Vasquez is out - I wonder how that went down. DD
I like the move, too. I'm sure ATW would reiterate how in-over-his-head Vasquez was at Bayern and he has never struck me as the right kind of coach needed to fulfill Klinsmann's wholesale restructuring of the USMNT. This also signals that Klinsmann understands the urgency this summer. Yes, the US is in a really tough group. But, I think Jürgen knows the urgency behind advancing to the group stage. He was hired partially on a plan to rebuild US Soccer and instill a style of play. If we don't advance now, 8 years is a long time to wait to show results on the world stage.
I think sometimes shaking things up a bit is a good thing, it lets the players know the importance and that no one should be comfortable. DD
Earlier would have been better but they won't start focusing on the tactics of their World Cup opponents until the camp in May. That gives the coaches a couple of months to work on the strategy and the 3ish weeks of the camp to implement them.
Figured we could make this thread an all encompassing US Soccer thread. Anyways, figured this should be posted since it hasn't been yet; http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs.../02/arsenals-zelalem-nearing-u-s-eligibility/ Steve Goff from what I understand is fairly connected in the D.C soccer scene, where Zelalem spent his time when he lived here. If he does get his passport, that is monumental for the US soccer program. The kid is absolutely a game changer, more so than Green.
^^^^^^ Buaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha... LOLOLOLOLOLOL  Yeah, no. This is all about Klinsmann's changes, man.
Just ignore it. I hope Zelaem decides to be a part of the USMNT. He and Green could make for a great duo after 2014. Both are talented and have world class potential. Neither are remotely ready to be a part of the roster this summer and I really don't think either was promised anything.
