So betweeN USA basketball summer camp starting soon, the empty periods of waiting for baseball highlights to stop dominating SportsCenter, and Jeremy Lin threads running amock in the GARM, I thought I'd introduce a discussion I had with a friend not too long ago.

We were discussing the hypothetical situation in which all the recent USA Olympic basketball squads were to face off in a single elimination style tournament. Seeding would be to an extent arbitrary, so let me lay it out for you guys with the rosters (I'm only gonna mention significant rotation guys):

    1992 (#1 seed)
    Magic Johnson - John Stockton
    Michael Jordan - Clyde Drexler
Larry Bird - Scott Pippen - Chris Mullin
    Charles Barkley - Karl Malone
    Patrick Ewing - David Robinson

    2008 (#2 seed)
Jason Kidd - Chris Paul - Deron Williams
    Kobe Bryant - Dwayne Wade
    LeBron James - Tayshaun Prince
    Chris Bosh - Carmelo Anthony
    Dwight Howard - Carlos Boozer

    2016 hypothetical (#3 seed)
    Steph Curry - Kyrie Irving
    James Harden - Klay Thompson
    LeBron James - Kawhi Leonard
Kevin Durant - Lamarcus Aldridge - Blake Griffin
Anthony Davis - Demarcus Cousins - Dwight Howard

    2012 (#4 seed)
    Chris Paul - Russel Westbrook
    Kobe Bryant - James Harden
LeBron James - Carmelo Anthony - Andre Iguadala
    Kevin Durant - Kevin Love
    Tyson Chandler - Anthony Davis

    1996 (#5 seed)
Penny Hardaway - Gary Payton - John Stockton
    Reggie Miller - Mitch Richmond
    Scott Pippen - Grant Hil
    Charles Barkley - Karl Malone
David Robinson - Shaq - Hakeem Olajuwan

    2000 (#6 seed)
    Jason Kidd - Gary Payton
    Vince Carter - Alan Houston
    Ray Allen - Stevie Smith
    Kevin Garnett - Vin Baker
    Alonzo Mourning - Antonio Mcdyess

    First round follows as such:
(#1) Dream Team (1992) gets a bye in the first round and would play the winner of the 4 and 5 seed.

    (#2) Redeem Team (2008) takes on (#7) Larry Brown's Disaster Group (2004)

(#3) Hypothetical squad of 2016 faces off with (#6) Vince Carter's nuts (2000)

(#4) Squad of 2012 squares off with (#5) Oasis of big men (1996)

I'll hit you guys with my results in a little bit, but I'm really interested to see yalls answers on the 4/5 matchup. I hope this is a decent distraction from a few of the other ridiculous threads I had to sift through during this awkward stretch of the year; enjoy and share your thoughts!

The 1992 has the best all round, high basketball IQ team and would destroy the other teams listed.
