Joe Johnson's D was exceptional in the WC last year. In fact, the backcourt that performed the best was Joe Johnson and Kirk Hinrich. There couldn't have been a player with a bigger drop-off from NBA to international competition than Wade, but Coach K kept running him out there.
I would like to see Ray Allen or Michael Redd in there, they are good shooters, and I think thats was the problem with last Team USA (No "Dream Team" anymore)
There are plenty players who can handle the ball on this team. Remove Marcus Williams, insert Jerome James for more frontcourt size and the U.S. has a squad. Also Chris Bosh in his limited chances played exceptional. Shoulda definitely played him more. Dwyane Wade never started a game in the tourney I don't think, so he served more as a super reserve. Everyone talks about how he gets calls in the NBA, but he was getting the calls in the tourney also. (He did one of his "and-1" moves one time, walking straight to the free throw line almost entitled to a call after driving in and getting little contact on him. Which pissed me off and made dislike him more but I guess it works everywhere..) Also though, he showed me something Lebron didnt - that he was willing to be a guy to count on when his team needed him.
Whatever happened to this being a 3-year committment from those guys? There shouldnt have to be new invitations every year because the guys were supposed to commit for 3 years (unless they are hurt).
