Only three fullbacks (Cherundolo, Lewis, Hejduk) is pretty surprising, especially since Lewis is a natural midfielder. Anyone else think we'll be seeing quite a bit of 3-5-2 this summer?
Goalkeepers: • Marcus Hahnemann (Reading, England). • Tim Howard (Manchester United, England). • Kasey Keller (Borussia Monchengladbach, Germany). Defenders: • Carlos Bocanegra Fulham, England). • Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96, Germany). • Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City Wizards). • Cory Gibbs (Den Haag, The Netherlands). • Frankie Hejduk (Columbus Crew). • Eddie Lewis (Leeds United, England). • Oguchi Onyewu (Standard Liege, Belgium). • Eddie Pope (Real Salt Lake). Midfielders: • DeMarcus Beasley (PSV, Holland). • Bobby Convey (Reading, England). • Clint Dempsey (New England). • Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy). • Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado Rapids). • John O'Brien (Chivas USA). • Ben Olsen (D.C. United). • Claudio Reyna (Manchester City, England). Forwards: • Eddie Johnson (Kansas City Wizards). • Brian McBride (Fulham, England). • Brian Ching (Houston Dynamo). • Josh Wolff (Kansas City Wizards). Boy was I wrong on the last three . . . I only got one right. I'm very surprised Conrad made it as well . . .
I think he will, their camp doesn't start until next Wednesday so he should be available this weekend.
Wait a minute... Didn't Twellman score a hat trick against Norway? And then another against Poland? How does he not make it? DD
He got one against Norway's C team and one more goal in another game. Overall he hasn't done much with the US team. I think Ching edged him out because of his size and his performance in MLS this season.
At least im not a pandering sycophant. Futbol, LMAO, give me a break... Hey, let's start calling baseball besuboru because that's what they call it in Japan. Sheesh.
I LIKE Conrad. I think he's good and I'm pleased he made it. Olsen, too. I'd have taken Twellman over Ching, I'm glad Noonan didn't make it, and I wish they could have found a spot for Dunivant.
So people using Spanish words is "pandering"? This isn't the D&D forum, this is a casual discussion forum. But you're right, him using the word "futbol" is contributing to the vast left-wing illegal immigrant conspiracy.
Twellman did, that's what Doc Ludicrous meant - "he got one [hat trick] against Norway's C team and one more goal in another game."
Wow, he was on fire though...but I am VERY glad O'brien made it, if he is fit, we have a VERY solid and creative midfield. DD
No, no... you got it all wrong... the rest of your post is nice, but this sentence I quoted from you makes no sense. What's "in the beat the crap out of the USA stakes"?? Mexico or any other team in its group could NOT--I repeat--could not play any team from Mexico's group until the SEMIFINAL and/or FINAL, depending on final standings in first round. Coincidence? I think NOT. I think MEXICO paid for a seeding. OK, let's go with your "any team of group D" Win Group D and U.S.A. win its group, teams won't meet but until the FINAL. If one is runner up and the other wins the group, they will meet only until match 62 or match 61, a SEMIFINAL. Stop crying about seedings... see what you started, yo? Congratulations BRIAN CHING. I'm so sorry, Dynamo.
Swoly, I'm being hypothetical that's all. Being a USA fan I would have loved to see USA,Mexico,Portugal and Iran because of the history. And I could care less about seedings. I still think we have a better chance of making the 2nd round than Mexico. Now if you wanna give me crap about something there you go.
This is a very solid team. I was a little suprised by Conrad over Berhalter, taking WC expierence into play. I'm still not sold on Josh Wolff. He's done very little since 2002. Then again, neither has John O'Brien, but at least he has injuries to blame for that. Ching's addition is a great tactical move. I have to believe Arena had him in there from the beginning. If McBride goes down, Ching fills in perfectly. He's big, can hold the ball, and is great on set pieces. I believe that Eddie Johnson will come out of this WC as the next big thing from the US.
