Well I didn't know it was the UK media, but I still have a serious problem with our media, especially with the way they are going out of their way to scare everybody with threats of chemical warfare. It's one thing to inform, it's another to go out of your way to scare everybody so that they'll be sitting in front of their television sets watching the news fearing for their lives.

Can you provide any links to Musharaf's role as the direct creator? While I know of ISI's role in developing them and Musharaf's role in protecting them, I was unaware he created them.

I had always heard the person that created the Taliban was actually "the guy who is never seen", Mullah Omar or whatever his name is.

I was being sarcastic, but I tell you what, I'm sick of fighting these wars every couple of years. It's time to finish these problems and bring some stability to that region of the world. Bring on the jihad, bring on whatever you want to call it, but bring it on. Don't play these pansy games once every five years. Either bring peace or bring war. If you want to play war then be prepared to finish it. Take it to the finish. The same goes for the U.S.. Take it to completion or the same problems will continue to rise up. Afgahinstan's sandbox should be demolished and rebuilt. Innocent lives will be lost, but they will be lost to save countless others in the future. I'm not calling for a nuclear attack on Afghanistan, but I wouldn't be angered if it happened either. By supporting Bin Laden they supported the act of War. And for anyone who doesn't think the WTC was an act of War, I question your thinking. I don't know that the U.S. is thinking right now, but I hope it's going to take this to completion.

Here's some info on where Musharaf's heart really lies:

    http://www.subcontinent.com/sapra/terrorism/terrorism20010914a.html

I would reccommend reading this if you want to understand Musharaf's role in all this...

    Ottoman: (from this article)

The equally strong bonds of these officers with the Taliban, which was created during Mrs.Benazir Bhutto's second tenure. These two officers (Musharraf and Lt.Gen.Mohammad Aziz), who were then posted as Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO), and Deputy Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) respectively, created the Taliban at the instance of Maj-Gen. (retd) Nasirullah Baber, her Interior Minister, who was himself the head of the Afghan Division of the ISI under her father.

I was incorrect on the details; Musharaf was DGMO apparently at the time, but you get the point... He is intimately linked to the Taliban, and was one of three of its creators. I am having a hard time trying to figure out why he is not being more helpful in this situation, as he may well be overthrown if the war continues for too long. He appears to be engaging in a little doublespeak...

    Two things:

    1.

NOBODY but the Russians, French, and British have the certain ability to hit the US with an ICBM. The Chinese possess ICBMs, but of extremely dubious quality. Better not to risk it... but somethign to keep in mind.

    2.
Without venturing to ascertain the veracity of this particular link, I must assert that leaks are an important tool of foreign diplomacy.

Countries don't make nuclear threats through explicit channels, generally. You leak it to the press. You allow information concerning nuclear alerts to be intercepted, etc.

This is a nuclear threat of a unique nature. Rather than threatening to launch, the US is rather threatening to eviscerate Pakistan's status as a modern regional power.

Sometimes they are, but not in this case. This was apparently a SF operation that was being planned, and someone just blew the operation's element of surprise. Without the element of surprise an operation of this nature would have almost no chance of success.

And this was a vital operation. Pakistan's nukes are not secure. They may very well be used against us at some point if they are not neutralized. If they are...

I repeat, whoever leaked this should be shot.

I don't like these type of leaks at all, in fact I hate them, but we do need to consider that even you or I could have surmised that the U.S. would have a team prepared to gather up the nukes. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. I didn't think about it, granted, but I'm sure a lot of people have. The person who wrote this could have been taking a very safe guess. A logical one. I don't like the fact he made it public, but it's not that secret to me. Talking about actual troop movements, military equipment, artillery counts, people on board our aircraft makes me nervous. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. I just wish that on the whole they'd keep quiet about this stuff even if it's a logical guess. Canada is actually mapping out different military strategies and detailing them on T.V.. Maybe it's stupid, maybe not, but my gut tells me it is. Stupid is as stupid does.

I actually heard about this yesterday, but was hoping it would go away... The military briefed a congressional committee on the plan, and my guess is someone in congress leaked it (surprise, surprise...). This wasn't just a good guess, and frankly if I were Bush I'd instruct the military not to brief congress on sh*t like this anymore..

The Pakistanis might have thought about the possibility that we'd try something like this, but probably not very hard. Maybe they'd have added another 2 security guards to the facilities where the warheads are kept. Now they'll add a batallion...

I think if Madrassa "educated" militants took over Pakistan's nuke stockpile, the first one goes to Tel-Aviv. What better way to curry favor?

Considering Israel has (relatively) good relations with India, AND that India has recently claimed every right to invade Pakistan for Kashmir terrorist shananigans, and that BOTH countries felt slighted when half of they names on their "Terrorist" list were crossed out byt the US in the name of Coalition...

I wouldn't be shocked if India and Israel already have a similar plan already written in the playbook.

I don't for see anyone using Nuclear weapons any time soon
Iran has them but even they know that if they ever used them
they would cease to exist from the world. The United States
and all other nuclear powers would not use them unless
a hostile nation attacked them with a nuclear weapon. both the United States and Russia threatened to finish the job on both India and Pakistan if they ever used them on each other. as far as
them being snuck in the us by terrorists we watch every nuke by satellite and if they ever tried moving them by boat that boat would be sunk before it ever left port and if the US or its allies was ever attacked by a Country that used nuclear weapons the US would
counter strike with enough nuclear weapons to kill every man women and child in that country and then Russia would pound us and we would pound them and cockroaches and ants would win while the human
race would lose. the irony of nuclear power:rolleyes:

Iran already has nukes? This is news to me...

    When did we do that?

We do? All of them? Do we have that many satellites? I didn't know that...

We would? They would? We would?

What does this have to do with the energy crisis?

    :p

I will amet that i got a little ahead of my self but there is a strong rumor that during the early 90s the Russian mob stole 2-4 nuclear
weapons from the Russian arsenal and sold them to Iran
it is unproven but there is enough speculation to worry some countries including our own
