It is more because of the greediness of Corporate America. They take most of the profit and get tax breaks while only paying $1/day to Chinese workers. If Chinese currency rises to certain level, US corporate will switch manufacturing to other countries with cheap labor. Sorry still no jobs for lazy Americans
The forum is called "Debate and Discussion" and this is a topic I think is worth debating. Also due to Yao there are a lot of Chinese posters on this board. Anyway I didn't post this piece as Pro-China but more as looking at how US candidates are playing on fears of the PRC to try to win elections.
There is some truth to what you say but that's not really a counter to what Sweet Lou was writing as the PRC is manipulating its currency to keep its labor cheap. I personally think most of the US manufacturing base is gone for good no matter what the PRC does and if the US wants to rebuild it we are going to have to rely on innovation than trying to recapture consumer manufacturing.
bluntly put, other than regurgitating a meaningless rhetorics, you have no idea wtf ur talking. ignorance kills.! for your education, there is no signed agreement nor international law that prevents a country from supporting its currency exchange rate. Japan has been doing it expertly over the past 60+years, followed by Taiwan, SKorea, Singapore, just to name a few US allies. where were the outcry as compared to Japan, in the realm of currency manipulation, China is but a hard working amateur. at this moment, while the economically illiterates, those of your ilk, are parroting convenient rhetorics over China's exchange practice, Japan is doing it much more expertly, so that it is not as transparent. Japan is fixing its currency against the US by manipulating a 3rd or even 4th currency, one that also trades w the USD in large volume. so, by all means, crucify those nations that manipulate currencies. but do so with some knowledge and understanding of the currency exchange practices. translation, it is not right that the commies are beating the capitalists in their own game of economics
Aren't you basically countering Sweet Lou's argument yourself? China's policies aren't hurting the US. It's hurting other developing countries where US companies will build their factories if Chinese labor become to expensive. So why are we complaining about something that doesn't affect us?
I don't fully buy sweet lou's argument but was responding specifically to the back and forth in the first part of my post. The second part was my own specific input on the subject.
