I am wondering why no central Asian muslim state volunteered to take these guys? If I am not mistaken, there are some countries in the area that have ethnic groups similar to the Uyghurs or at least share some heritage. May be they are afraid of upsetting their Chinese allies?

It looks like the only places willing to take these Uyghurs back are tiny island-nations. I guess that bodes well for them.

Eh, that's because the same separatist/terrorist activities these Uyghyurs stirred up in Xinjiang autonomous region of China are of equal or even bigger concern to those Central Asian countries.
