I think there's a lot of hatred toward Romney in the media because he's a Mormon. For the general public, it's likely a combination of his religion and the fact that a lot of people don't feel they can relate to the guy.

That's why Huckabee did so well against him in the primaries. He was able to appeal to middle income voters while Romney came off(unfairly IMO) as stuck up and elitist. Kinda like what happened to Kerry in '04. Maybe it's a Massachusetts thing.

    OK: You are crazy!

    j/k

I didn't take Romney seriously until Iowa became hot. His hatchet job on Huckabee was despicable. Then he did the same thing to McCain later. To me, he is a manufactured, artificial candidate who had the best campaign organization money could buy. The problem was they were selling a flawed product: Romney himself. Being Mormon has nothing to do with it. That is a crutch and excuse he is falling back on. Of course there are people who hold that against him but it wasn't why he failed. He has no character at all. You want to talk about a flip-flopper from his past? None moreso than Romney who just remade himself into whatever he thought was necessary to win the nomination. From my standpoint, he is a completely unprincipled panderer and represents the worst in American politics. I can barely stand to look at the guy.

It's hard for me to take Huckabee seriously the same way it is for you to take Romney seriously. Huckabee's Presidential campaign was never actually about becoming President. His goal for the majority of the time was merely to take conservative votes away from Romney thereby sucking up to McCain enough to someday be mentioned in this conversation.

Huckabee was always too big of a wimp to go after McCain and it paid off for him. On Super Tuesday it was humorous how all the McCain supporters went and stuffed the ballot box for Huckabee in states like West Virginia and others that were projected to be big Huckabee vs. Romney battles. If anything was despicable it's not been how Romney went after both of those guys but the shameless "wink wink" deal McCain and Huckabee have seemingly had along.

I've stated why I like Romney a lot but at the same time I do understand where you're coming from and why he's a rather vulnerable candidate. I will say that I think the flip-flop accusations are somewhat exaggerated given the timeframe of most of them. 14 years I ago I used to think professional wrestling was real, I could play in the NBA someday and that there's no way the price of gas could possibly quadruple in my lifetime let alone that timespan. It's quite possible for politicians to "wise up" the same way I did. I understand your criticisms but I do think your character attack is a little off base.

wow. terrible rule. as a general rule be skeptical of uncited assertions on wikipedia? sure. a blanket discrediting of that site is really ... idk. dumb? i can't find a word for it.

also, mccain will be committing political suicide with huckabee. moderate republicans and non-religious voters find him really creepy (i.e. omg no more swing vote).
