There was a woman on Hardball the other day who was an Iraqi exile. She said that Saddam killed her 3 uncles, but her family told her at the time that they just went away on business trips. The reason her family lied to her was so that she wouldn't say anything negative of Saddam out in public. She also said that no one would say a negative word about Saddam to anyone, no matter how private they think their conversation. You never know who's listening or who will become a snitch and rat you out to Saddam. This was a woman who lived in Iraq, and I believe that those people aren't saying anything negative because they fear for their lives every day. I'd like to hear what those Iraqi's think of Saddam after he's been ousted. I'm sure it will be a fairly one sided Anti-Saddam opinion...
But the reason that the UN decided not to agree to war was because they said he didn't have any WMD. So, if the UN knew for certain that Iraq had WMD, we would be invading Iraq anyways, regardless of whether they were a direct threat to the US. I, personally, fear very threatened that Saddam would supply terrorists with chemical or biological weapons. He supports Palestinian suicide bombers with money, so why would he not support terrorists who attack America with weapons?
Opinionjournal.com was linking to another repot. Are you saying the media is lying? I doubt it. I do remember seeing a report where Iraqis were cheering FOR Saddam. But it was also reported that they were doing this because the cameras were there and the Baathists were there.
