JumpMan, i was searching desperately too, only to find endless Beijing olympics 2008 coverage...So thru my semi-fluent chinese i stumbled thru the CCTV-5 website and it seems that it will be delayed and the game will be shown China time: Aug9 22:05...so in Houston, Texas time: Aug9 7:05 AM... i'm not sure but that might mean you can catch it on ESPN2 before PPlive... Can anyone confirm this? I'm only kinda sure? Also, the www.usabasketball.com site does mention that CCTV will carry the second game on "delay live" whatever that means, so i'm giving up my search for now and will try PPlive about 24 hrs from now

Bet? What the hell do you mean, bet? You have not even the foggiest idea about what the Dream Team is and what it stands for. In 1988, The United States got EMBARRASSED at the Seoul Olympics in basketball. Sure, they won the bronze medal, but this is the country that had won every single gold medal in olympic basketball except in 1972 in one of the most controversial basketball games in history. Mitch Richmond, who was on that team, was so ashamed by that medal that he gave it to his mom and has never even looked at it since those Olympic games. What many people don't know is that it wasn't the NBA that asked FIBA to put its players in the Olympics, it was the other countries. They all knew that they were getting better at the game of basketball, but they also knew that we weren't sending our best players. The other countries petitioned FIBA to allow NBA players. They WANTED the United States to send its very best players just to see how far the rest of the world has come, and the message was sent in the form of the 1992 Dream Team. After eight of the most thorough ass whoopings in the history of international sports competition, the rest of the world knew that, while they had progressed far, they still had miles before they could match up with the United States. You see, it's BECAUSE of the Dream Team that the NBA has Dirk, Peja, Gasol, and Yao. Ask all those guys how they became interested in basketball, and I can almost guarantee you that part of their answer was because they watched the Dream Team as teenagers in the 1992 Olympics. A 20 ppg winning margin? THAT is what defines a "dream team"? Here's a number for you...ZERO! That's how many timeouts that Chuck Daly called during the Olympics. Here's a few more numbers for you: 55 - All NBA first team selections 15 - NBA MVP awards 23 - NBA championship rings 267,958 - total points Anyways, the Dream Team was never about stats or margin of victory. It was about a group of men that changed the course of history for what I think is the greatest game in the world. Now, IF this current US Olympic team wins by an average 0f 43 ppg, and Coach K doesn't call any timeouts, and 15 years from now, when the careers of all the current Olympic players are over, and their career accomplishments match those listed above, THEN maybe we'll have a vote to see if they are worthy of the title, "Dream Team 2006". Until then, please feel free to take your puny little 20 ppg margin of victory and shove it where the sun don't shine.
um...USA LOSING now 52 to Brazil's 54...Due to sloppiness. We lost the ball a lot of times, maybe stripped and the refs seems to think Varejo is a god or something...we're fighting tho...keep you posted, whoever is reading? anyone?
The 1992 dream team made the game a work of art. They were the artists. It was not about winning or losing, and there was no competition. Every game people all over the world expected to see a masterpiece, a show or a great opera. I don't think there will be another team close to that level in the next 50 years.
Score breakdown by Quarter: _____ 1 2 3 Brazil: 21 17 31 USA: 30 22 18 We'll see what we can do in the 4th!! (are both threads discussing?)
The US has no idea how to attack a zone, this is why they needed a structured offense, not a "give the players their freedom offense."
Brazil up 80-79...I don't understand all these fouls being called. Guess we have a lot to learn about FIBA and the international game?
When I click on teh arrow it has me dl pp LIve even after I have dloaded it. Can anyone walk me thru real quick?
Shawndme...only 4 minutes left in the fourth (USA down 82-81) but try 1)having PPlive already running when you click and 2)getting the latest version
Change the language to English, check under Other and it's the first one on the list. I think that they're missing very very important skills against the zone defense, the ability to catch and shoot, get open and score without the ball.
